Alright, so I am an Assistant Scoutmaster for a Boy Scout troop. Summer camp is next week, and I've been tasked with putting together a CD of "wake up" music, since we do not have a bugler in the troop anymore. The format is fairly simple--track 1 is reveille, the last track is taps, everything else in between is up to me. The way it works is I get up a half hour before the boys are supposed to (I am allowed to have an alarm clock for this), brush my teeth, get dressed, etc, and then play reveille and one of the tracks on the CD.
I'm looking for suggestions for what to include this year. The music should be recognizable by boys ages 11-16, loud, and exciting--Ride of the Valkyries is going to be on there, as is the Star Wars theme and maybe Entry of the Gladiators (aka "that circus music").
The solo from Free Bird. (that's usually common and one of the most annoying things to yell at a rock concert.)
Van Halen - Eruption

The 1812 Overture comes to mind pretty immediately. Also Holst's Mars, Bringer of War. If any of them watch the Venture Brothers they'll recognize the tune.

The best way of scaring awake little boys is a fully erect and shaven adult penis but as I think the ratio of erect and shaven adult dicks to children is not usable I would tend to go for a really bad a terrible Spice Girls track.
But that's progressing beyond songs 11 year olds would want to wake up to.
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers theme would do nicely.

The 1812 Overture (how the hell did I forget this one?) and Mars are both good. Not too sure on Eye of the Tiger or Born to be Wild (although I might use Gonna Fly Now).
I might reuse the Indiana Jones theme or John Williams' Superman theme (I am having a hard time remembering what was on the CD last--the last time I did this was 2 years ago)
Too bad you can't use cursing, though. Blasting Name of the Game by Crystal Method or Fuckin' in the Bushes by Oasis would be pretty badass to get up to in the morning.
I'm going to second the Thriller suggestion not because of all the MJ madness recently but if started right after the "footsteps" intro right at the loud DUH DUH! DUH DUH DUH would get them up quick. Plus....its Thriller...say what you want about MJ but these kids should know what it is if they don't already.
Intergalactic by the Beastie Boys seems like it would be a good fit. No Sleep Till Brooklyn if you want a theme.
I always used Bombs Over Baghdad by Outkast when I was out running and wanted to quit. I think that would wake you up. Not sure if there is swearing in there, though. And, it does mention bombs and Baghdad...

Because I used to wake up to the radio and one time I happened to wake up to Little Richard - Tutti Frutti and it was awesome.
I might add that this is the song that starts out with "A WOP BOP A DO BOP, A WOP BAM BOOM!"
Van Halen - Eruption
You're going to be fucking awake when you play that.
And Knights of cydonia- Muse
Just throwing those two out there.
Seems appropriate at this time somehow.
Satans..... hints.....
That's a classic for getting me pumped, but it might be dated for them.
Alternatively, the original pokemon theme
Truth by Devin Townsend
It's track #1 on my wake up mix. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLzRfEzYEz8

Teach them history and inspire them towards greatness.
Also Butterflies and Hurricanes by Muse is a great song to get pumped too.

There's nothing like waking up to some Aqua. Barbie Girl, Dr. Jones etc. You name it, Scandi pop at it's best.
