I'm trying to make anouther convoy attack co-op mission, does anyone know it you have to set a lot of way points of each bend in the road or will the AI just follow the road to the way point?

I downloaded the demo because I was entertained by the video uploaded a few pages ago. I'm really bad at this game. After doing a very bad job completing the training missions I tried a scenario and I ended up killing my squad leader and then standing in one place staring at someone unsure as to whether they were an enemy until they shot me and I died.
The only thing I'm good at is shooting missiles at tanks.

Yah, this isnt your regular Red vs. Blue match..... Since it is a military simulator you need to go by uniform and location... Generally, if someone is on the enemy side and they are pointing a gun at you then they are the enemy.
Alternativly, you can hold down the space bar and it should tell you either a friendly (green) or the enemy type (red)

The problem was the guy wasn't doing anything. He was just standing there. Then he brought up his gun and killed me. This was right after I had killed my squad leader so I was very hesitant to kill so quickly again.
nono you are supposed to get a taste for killing after that

I just replayed the same scenario. Did much better. I successfully completed it too! At the end the enemy was running away from us across a field and we mowed all of them down with the aid of some armor. It was really exciting.
Not sure if I would spend fifty dollars on it though.

I'd say if you're not entirely sold on it you should wait until ACE2.0 mod comes out then snap the game up at a (hopefully) lower price. Or if it ever gets one of those one day only 50% off steam sales, you'd be a fool not to grab it.
that exciting feeling you got is pretty much the feeling I get at all times when playing co-op with 8 to 24 other players. Including when we're just dicking around.
This game is just so strangely compelling, and I'm not certain on exactly why I like it but I just can't get enough of it.

Generally, the best/quickest way to identify an enemy is by their weapon. Chances are, if a guy's holding an AK or something like that, he desperately needs a bullet in the mouth

Yah, i agree.... although im happy i purchased it.. as i have already clocked over 10 hours with it..
I was really enjoying the single player until i tried Co-op multiplayer with PA... the game suddenly changed into a grand emotion...
I dont know why i like it either.. but im trying to find ways to keep the girlfriend looking the other way while i play
Well that was pretty amusing. Is it wrong if I think I find screwing around to be just as much fun as serious business...? Though that might be my incredible lack of being any good at all talking.
It's all personal taste. Some people like flying ospreys into people, others like serious business. Some like both. Other sad souls enjoy typing things like [] execVM "playersonly.sqf"; until like 6 AM. ArmA does it all!
Yeah, ideally it should be: check the gun, check the uniform, pray, then fire.

Ugh. The Death Valley scenario in the demo is really difficult. I think it might be meant for the player to assume the role of a commander, because when the AI does it it's a mess and the AI allies get into APCs without waiting for anyone to get in and then drive into town to get shot at.
I was bored and wrote a little guide to using the Warsaw Pact PSO-1 scopes. I actually found a translated field manual for them when I played STALKER. :P
This is your scope. There are many scopes like it, but this one is yours.
That vertical line of chavrons note how much you need to elevate the rifle to hit at that particular range, to account for bullet drop. The central one is 200 meters, and each one adds 200 meters, up to 1000 meters for the bottom one.
In the lower left is the range finder - those two curves. I should note here that this scope actually looks like a civilian hunting rifle version with scales for 1.5 meters and 0.5 meters (since that's the size of what you normally hunt) -- the military version only has one curve for 1.7 meters that looks like this. But even if it says 1.5/0.5, this is actually the military version and the curve works at 1.7 meters.
Right. So here's a dude that insulted my mom. We place him in the range finder, with his feet on the horisontal line, and then move the scope vertically until his head hits the curve. We see that he's just shy of 800 meters away, if he was 1.70 meters tall. When I cheated and hit Space to get that range finder, it gave me 792 meters. Good enough.
So then all we have to do is aim the 800 meter chavron at him and fire. Boom!
800 meters was a nice and even range that lined up perfectly with the chavron, but at ranges not evenly dividable by 200 you need some guesstimation of how to aim. At 400 meters or less it's not that much of an issue, really.
Nice. This strategy is certainly a departure from my previous one, which could best be described as shooting the gun off and moving the scope around till the bullet tracer thingy meets the head thingy.

I just shoot and adjust based on where the smoke cloud appears. It only takes a few minutes and a few clips of ammunition to get my kill.
So I'm enjoying the demo more and more. I will probably buy this if Neotokyo doesn't take up too much of my time. I lowered the "head bobbing" setting so that it only bobs a little bit and now the game isn't a blurry mess that blinds me every time I move!
Yeah, I had to lower the headbob to maybe 10% or so. It was impossible to spot movement with the default settings without stopping and scanning for movement.

Thanks.
In serious business you should notify your immediate officer ("fire team leader") and ask him before you shoot, if you haven't been detected.
Whenever i press right click to zoom with my gun out it doesnt use the scope, it just zooms the normal cross hair.
