The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
Looking to do a redesign on a website (not necessarily doing it myself, but checking out options).
The original site was done years ago in frames and html (yeah yeah, it was cutting edge for about 3 weeks...) Now I'm looking for something more up-to-date and with more of a backend.
I've been told about Joomla...was just wondering if there were any other quality options out there that would allow specific users to edit/add/update content rather easily, while not being able to mess things up too much. Also to be fairly flexible and allow for extensions and such.
I have much reading to do, but gladly I have many months and can search out some professional help down the road to hammer out the details.
Thanks!

Joomla is a good tool for content management, and is also good for the specific purpose of letting "other" contributors edit and add content.
You create alternate admin accounts with limited permissions so that said users can only edit certain things. I'm sure that with the proper addons, etc, it can even be done right on the page itself, rather than the large admin shell.
I use Joomla and I like it alot, but you definately need to RTFM on it if you don't understand content management software... can be tricky to mold its out of the box format to your purposes.
On the other side of the coin, stay away from phpNuke and e107. phpNuke likes to self-destruct for no apparent reason and e107 has security holes you could drive a truck through.

A tricky task in itself considering the manual is only about one tenth complete!
But from what exists of it, I get the impression that if you have a decent grasp of CMS and HTML and maybe some experience of more basic blogging applications and don't mind diving into the support forums it shouldn't be too hard.
