So usually my Wii has the little red light glowing when its not playing. I noticed recently that the light isn't on. So tonight I was going to play a game with somebody and nothing happened when I pressed the power button. Its all plugged up but it just seems dead. There was a power outage about two weekends ago and thats the only thing I can think of that would have turned it off. All home entertainment stuff is plugged into the same surge protector and are fine.
So what are my options? This Wii was bought the first week they came out so its probably out of warranty. Do I just toss the thing?
Man and I just preordered the Metroid Prime trilogy pack...
I had my wii suddenly refuse to power on one day and I thought it was dead, but I borrowed the power supply from one of my friend's and swapped them out for shits and giggles. Sure enough that worked.
So I'd definatley try that before you decide to toss the system in the trash. They aren't very expensive if you can't borrow one from somebody, but it's cheaper than a new wii.

If you send it in, it costs around $100 to repair and 6 weeks turnaround.
Cheaper than buying a new one, and if you do it quick, you'll still have it back in time for the trilogy.
But the first thing you should do, as mentioned in the above post, is try another power brick/cable.
After that, call Nintendo's support line and find a box big enough to ship it back in.
Ok so I left it all unplugged last night and sitting around and this afternoon before looking for places to order the AC adapter. So just to make sure it was still dead I went and tried it out. Little guy powered back up.
I have no idea what happened other then a quick goog says the thinng could reset itself from a power outage if you let it sit. Wow!

So it works now. Thanks for the suggestions.
