“This effort is going to make it possible to introduce a whole new generation of gamers to
LucasArts’ classic games,†said Darrell Rodriguez, president of LucasArts. “It also gives
more people a chance to play our games by making them available long after they’ve
disappeared from store shelves. We hope our fans are as excited as we are about our
plans and we can’t wait to share what’s coming next. This is just the beginning.â€
This series of launches continues LucasArts’ new mission to revitalize its deep portfolio
of beloved gaming franchises.
LucasArts previously announced the return of the classic Monkey Island® franchise with
two new projects due to be released in the near future. Tomorrow, July 7, Telltale will
premiere the Tales of Monkey Island® game series on PC, delivering a completely new
epic storyline and swashbuckling flair that will unfold across five monthly episodes. The
first Tales of Monkey Island chapter is expected to release for WiiWareâ„¢ in the coming
weeks as well.
The Monkey Island celebration continues on July 15 when LucasArts publishes The
Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition, a completely re-imagined version of the first
game in the series that adds updated high definition graphics, a re-mastered musical
score, and full voiceover to the classic adventure game originally launched in 1990. The
Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition will be made available on Xbox LIVE® Arcade
for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, and PC via
Steam and other online distribution channels.

Edit: I'm disappointed with how much the Lucasarts Twitter page was hyping up adventure games, there is a distinct lack of adventure games there. Or at least the big ones... Full Throttle? Day of the Tentacle? Grim Fandango?

I didnt see any mention of pricing, but who cares? I may finally get to play Full Throttle.
You know what would be rad? X-Wing and TIE Fighter.
I want to know more PA people on Twitter.
@Captain Eleven - I think a new Lucas Arts space sim on those games is WAY overdue.

I was going to mention this and forgot. I would kill for a quality remake of that series. Hell, I would gladly pay for the same game with updated graphics and better networking code (the original net code was notoriously bad).
I hope these are priced reasonably, because I've got a mortgage and foreclosure would be a bitch.

This is a fantastic start, and I hope they build on it.

Yessssssssssssssssssssssssss.
Point-and-clicks on my iPhone would be a megaton.
Fuck I don't need this. Next I'd hear that the Kings Quest Anthology that floats around in various forms would hit the iPhone.

That craft pack with updated models and whatnot makes XW:A quite pretty. The fonts go kinda nuts on some video cards though.
I have the TIE Fighter Total Covnersion sitting around on my drive somewhere. I never got to play it, as it requires you to have the original TF discs or something...and those are long gone.
!!!
I do not need to spend more money
get your fucking hand out of my wallet STEAM
Can trade TF2 items or whatever else you're interested in. PM me.
One step closer to Jedi Knight 3.

Such a great game.
The IRS just decided I owe them more money, this is not a good time for awesome re-releases!
It was a great adventure game, more serious than most LucasArts games from that time (it lacks the humor from most of their other adventures). I really enjoyed it, but it's not my favorite.
The most cinematic game I'd ever played up until that point. Still one of the best intros of any game ever.
This is a large step closer.
