So what is this bad boy? Well, I am sure many of you have fond memories of BF 1942. This is a prettier version of that for consoles, with some new features and some limitations.
Battlefield 1943 will have players playing as either the United States Marine Corps or the Imperial Japanese Navy with up to 24 players on mainly three classic Battlefield maps: Wake Island, Guadalcanal, and Iwo Jima; but after 43 million kills upon both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, an additional Dogfight only map called Coral Sea will be unlocked, while the PC version will be accessible during its release.
Like Battlefield: Bad Company, 1943 will feature the Frostbite Engine for its environmental damage. The game will only feature the series' signature Conquest mode when released. Similar to Battlefield Heroes, 1943 will only feature three classes - infantryman, rifleman, and scout. The game also features a regenerating health system similar to the Call of Duty or Halo series.
Basically what that says is that the game will ship with 4 maps, one of which is unlockable. The classes have been reduced from 5 to 3 but they moved things around so that the classes are hybrids as opposed to just what they were in 1942. It will be 24 players ala Bad Company, along with destructible environments.
The best news is that it comes out this Wednesday for the 360 for the low price of 15 dollars. Or on Thursday for you ps3 owners.

apparently they ARE planning a pc version but a date has yet to be announced. I don't know how true those claims are however. The rumors are in the fall sometime.

hearts of iron 3 comes out in a month and has co-op with over 150 nations to choose from
i tried to get people to talk about HOI3 in another thread and everyone ignored me
although one thing with the new game is that they are dumbing down a lot of the non-essential nations, and trying to do cool shit with a minor is nearly impossible now
No thanks, guys, I'll just stick with Forgotten Hope.

You start a game and right off the bat you are hit by a veritable information train
So much micromanaging, but it's all historically accurate to a retarded tee, and the whole world and like 250 countries are available
My brothers best game was him conquering the Americas as Uruguay. I got a few turns in as Argentina and it was fun, lots of livestock and population resources but not much tech

Nom nom
I didn't dig the African maps that much, honestly, but I loved the playstyle. Those wide-open deserts usually ended with me either getting raped in a tank or being lucky enough to get in on some urban warfare and own punks

I have yet to run out of ammo in Bad Company before I am killed and Bad Company is fantastic.

This looks pretty okay! Hopefully it has more weight to the weapons and people than in the other BF games.

the opening video on the site is very G.I. Joe in a good way
Was I misinformed
It's okay if I am, this is a bastardization of what BF1942 was all about
It's Battlefield merged with TF2 in a good way

has it improved?
More classes, more vehicles, more players, larger scopes

It's by the same dudes who made HOI only it's 1836-1912 and it's goddamn incredible. My brother loves it, mods it, and is really good at it
But I can't figure anything out because holy God it's so complicated
also, awesome
also, minor nations are dumb anyway
GONNA BE BRAZIL FUCK YEAH
MAKE ME A CARRIER AND BANKRUPT THE NATION
What?

Goddammit more games that want my money.
Which, the first one or the second one?
EDIT: Also check out this ongoing epic Paradox LP. The Goon Reichstag has, of course, elected to go maximum Hitler in their decisions.
I should dig up my BF2 disks and play it some more. I had some good times like a year and a half ago with Volyu in FH2
Gimme something as good as MOHAA / DOD:S in their prime please

but the lack of stability fucking kills me
Fabulous is not the word I would have used. Mediocre? It just felt like it was missing something (like Europe!) compared to FH1.
Also I hate the developers, and I think I ranted about them previously here.
man after your first couple games it gets almost too easy, especially as germany
the key to the game is to encircle, encircle, encircle
France? About historical.
USSR? Psh. Two campaigning seasons.
