Totally not a girl thread.
Here's the skinny: I'm trying to get a job in the ER of a hospital, since that's the field I'm going into as a profession. In scanning the websites of the local hospitals for jobs, I found one that, while it is great for me, I had some questions about that HR wouldn't be able to answer. Unfortunately, HR or recruiting is all you can get ahold of, and they're totally useless, not to mention online apps never get anywhere anyway. So the other day (Thursday), I went down to the ER to ask some questions/make my face visible to try and get onto the radar of the dudes who do the actual hiring. Long story short, I end up meeting with the manager of Trauma and Emergency Services for the hospital, have what essentially seemed like a job interview, and get sent back out into the world with the instructions of, "apply to any tech job on the website like you would for the ER job, make a note for recruiting to send it to me, and send me an email letting me know so I can pull your app and we can get you going." Awesome, and he left me with the info that he checks his email all the time, so response should be quick.
That very night the app was sent out and emails to guy were away, and I haven't heard back yet. I'm ok with that, it was 4th of July weekend, things got busy. Really, the question is at what point do I send my followup email and start getting more aggressive? I was planning on sending him something in a couple days (after a week elapses), but is there any reason to send sooner or later? I have no problem being pushy about getting this job, but I'd rather not do it in such a fashion as to alienate the person who would actually be hiring me.
tl;dr: Lucked into good contact for job, said he would email me back within a day or two but hasn't. Followup email after a week a good amount of time, or should it be more/less?
