I do see that this is not exactly a tech support forum, but I figured I'd attempt to pick at some of your brains and see if I can verify an issue I am having with a particular laptop.
Story short, I have done a factory default system restore on an Enpower 54540 laptop utilizing the manufacturer's Recovery Disk, and have not been able to install the device drivers to actually use the laptop. I do know that they are the brand of PC Club, which has been out of business since May. My question is if there are compatible drivers for this model, or a known working database that contains the installers for the devices on the laptop (LAN, Video, Sound, Webcam, etc). Or if other Enpower model drivers would work for any of them?
If I am an idiot, and I know I can be at times, perhaps I have been overlooking the possibility that the drivers are on the said recovery disks, but not loaded during the system installation? Or would there be another disk containing the drivers? Or is all lost and the laptop can never use used again?

Now I don't know anything about that specific laptop, but you should be able to track down all the drivers if you have a list of the laptop's hardware. Up to date drivers will be available on the various hardware manufacturer's websites. So, if you have an Intel chipset, those drivers will be up for download at Intel's website. Ditto for AMD/SiS/Via/Nvidia chipsets, and any LAN/video/sound/whatever hardware. The only place you may have issues is with the occasional proprietary driver for something like a touchpad. If you run into a problem like that, there's really not much to suggest beyond some very intensive googling.

First of all, you may have a bit more luck in Moe's Tech Tavern.

All right, people. It is not a gerbil. It is not a hamster. It is not a guinea pig. It is a death rabbit. Death. Rabbit. Say it with me, now.
