The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
I ventured into PA Forum land specifically to post about the Lookouts run, but that topic has plainly been run into the ground. (I'm in the "interesting failure" camp, myself: Becky's art style is gorgeous but wasn't well-adapted to this kind of storytelling, the story that's eventually discernible is interesting enough but too rushed and confusingly presented, better luck next time.) No skin off my teeth, really, I voted for Automata.
But it did get me to wondering, for future reference: are there any webcomics artists working right now who could make a good go of one of these interesting PA side-projects, or at any rate a better go than "interesting failure"? I'm wracking my brain, and can't think of any, which I guess is a tribute to how talented and polished the PA team have become over the years. Can anyone else?
I'd like to see regular PA from the perspective of something dissimilar to Gabe's art style. Like the guy who does XKCD. Or Dinosaur Comics. Maybe indexed.
Pass it around and get different comics' take on each other.

What day of the year is it that all the newpaper artists do this? I forget.
I think the dude who draws kukuburi would be good (Ramón something, his last name's escaping me.)
I'm not a fan of completely different art styles, because I think if they're too different it just becomes either jarring or a gimmick, but his is close enough to gabe's that it might be cool.
Eat it You Nasty Pig. on
hold your head high soldier, it ain't over yet
that's why we call it the struggle, you're supposed to sweat
I used that one to demonstrate her work with children and non-humans. While the Da'kor (I may have that wrong, the comic ended a couple years ago), and there was a romance involving him and an elf, it was strictly PG on that front and made clear that such relations were highly uncommon.
She's also stated that her main influence is Disney (although she originally wrote the story as an RPG), so he's more of a friendly woodland creature.
I would love to see a PBF guest strip. Though I don't know how that would work. Very different types of humor.
That, and the PBF guy spends at least 3-4 weeks tweaking and testing a single strip before he will consider presenting it to the public; it's a style that pays off but doesn't lend itself well to spur-of-the-moment guest comics.

They don't do it every year, but the day is April 1st. IIRC Foxtrot actually has a 'joke' strip about this (the joke being no one told him they weren't doing it this year).

Gurevitch certainly has versatility. Though I'd always be expecting something horrible to happen.
Yes.
Or better yet, Bill Watterson.
Sarah Ellerton would have been perfect for Lookouts. I mean, would you look at this?

That second one, good lord. That was amazing.
