Searching for an old game (SOLVED)

Hey guys, i've lurked on penny arcade for a few years now, and now i can't avoid creating an account any longer because i have a problem i think you guys can solve for me!

I'm looking for a game i used to play many years ago when i was a child and found very fun, it's very similar to Heroes of Might and Magic (in fact i thought it was until i looked into it).

You control a hero and wander round the map fighting the other heroes and their armies and you go into a little battle grid like in heroes. I think each team has only 1 hero and they were an element, (earth, fire, water etc and death was definitely a hero because that's what i always went, and i think was the best one).

I cant really remember any more details than this n figured if you guys didnt know what i was on about then i'd never find it! I'd appreciate any suggestions as to what it is! Oh yeah this isn't a recent game at all, in fact i'd say its at least 10years old.

Age of Wonders? It came out roughly 10 years ago and I think the spells were mainly elemental based.

Could be Master of Magic as well, though the hero is an element thing doesn't quite fit.

I thought i'd found it when ya said Age of Wonders because it seemed pretty similar, but after looking through screenshots of similar games i came across the real deal, its Lords of Magic that i was lookin for whch i will now try and find a source i can download it from.
