Best Buy price matching

I would direct this question directly to Best Buy, but they're closed at the moment.

The story is, I bought an HDTV at a Best Buy store yesterday. Today, I notice that the same TV is on sale on-line $600 cheaper than what I paid. If I go back to the store, will they refund the $600 difference? I'm going to contact them tomorrow when they open back up, but I wanted to see if anyone here would know for sure if this is a worthwhile effort.

Usually pricing online is ONLY online. If it doesn't state that it's an online only price then you probably could go talk to them.

I just did this with a camera. They will match their online prices in the store. You should probably print out the page with the price, or they can possibly look it up in the store.

    Absolutely print it off.
Worse case scenario, return the TV.

As long as it does not say "WEB ONLY," you're fine.

The idea is that they'd rather give you the difference back than have you return the old TV and re-buy it--leaving them with an open box product and having refunded you the difference anyway.

Right there in the customer service department, I've noticed that they have something that amounts to "If we have a sale with this item or reduce the price within 14 days after you buy it bring your proof and we'll credit you for it."

I don't know the exact wording, but the gist of it is basically they will match it. I don't know if this is applicable for online prices though.

They might have some sort of contract that can dupe it out, but it's no loss trying. 600 bucks is 600 bucks. Thats a PS3 for your TV right there.

In my experience, Bestbuy will price match their website.

That's part of the price match policy, but I believe it's 30 days on most stuff (computers are shorter, I think, basically to coincide with the shorter return policy on it. If you can return it still, they'll price match, generally)

When you go in, use "Price Guarantee" rather than "Price Match." While they are technically two parts of the same policy, depending on how unlearned the employee is there about the system, they might get confused if you say "Price Match" and flat out deny you simply because they aren't sure what to do.

Yes, they should refund you the difference since it's on their website and doesn't say "online only!"

Bring your receipt and the printout.

even if it says online only, you probably could still get them to honor it if its the same store (brick vs online). a sale is probably better than a return

    Quick update.

They just scanned my receipt and refunded 600 bucks to my credit card. I of course proceeded to pick up a PS3 (read: blu-ray player) and some movies.

I didn't even need the print out.
