I have been searching for DL DVD-R all over and I can't seem to find them. I've been using -R for normal DVD's, since I've read it's better to use on players.

Sure they exist. I have a small spindle of them on my desk. The thing is that they're hella expensive compared to single-layer media, to the point where it makes more economic sense to use a bunch of DVD5s rather than a comparable set of dual-layered discs (unless you really need to fit something on a single disc).
edit: oooh, are you talking DVD-R DL, as opposed to DVD+R DL? Yeah, I think my spindle is +R. I haven't actually looked too much into dual-layered shit myself because of the aforementioned price.

Why the fuck aren't there any DL DVD-R?
And the person who fed you that line of crap was ... ? o_O
DVD+R bitset to DVD-ROM > * for compatibility. I have yet to find a player that won't do that, even shitty $25 Wal-Mart made-in-China specials, which is because a +R has an equal reflectivity index to a pressed DVD, and once you fix that little booktype issue it is a DVD-ROM.

Looking for a DX:HR OnLive code for my kid brother.
Can trade TF2 items or whatever else you're interested in. PM me.
I don't remember who told me that, it was awhile ago. Good to know I guess. I need a DL for my wedding video, don't wanna give my folks a couple of dvd's, and instead just give em one.
The reason I asked was that we did a trail burn with a Fujifilm DL and I tested it on my xbox 360 and it didn't work. It works on my computer just fine. I read up and some people are saying that Verbatim was a good brand to use for the 360. I am gonna test it out on a normal dvd player and see what happens. I do burn it on the slowest speed cause most of my folks have old dvd players.

DVDplusRs should work fine with all but the oldest and crappiest of DVD players anyway.

Thanks for the replies, I appreciate it.

Granted, I've yet to get a burning program that can actually use them (my drives are supposed to be DL capable).
I use Nero, it can do DL just fine. Any modern burning software should have no problems with it.
So I just burned a DL Fujifilm and tried it on the 360 and it works. Don't know what the fuck is going on, but I ain't complaining.

ImgBurn and CDBurnerXP can do it.
