So with this laptop, I've been trying to figure out a way to play HD flash videos (such as the kind found in Youtube or Gametrailers) much smoother, as the videos tend to stutter and skip, especially when compared to WMA format. I could use any advice or downloads that might result in smoother playback.
On that note, I've had similar issues with flash on my (much stronger) PC; after several hours, the videos tend to stutter and skip, and restarting my PC has the videos play smoothly again, sort of like I'm "flushing" my computer.
Unlike WMA videos, flash videos don't use hardware acceleration for decoding. You may be out of luck until Adobe gets around to fixing that. There's been a little discussion about it in the Chrome thread.
Well, what normally determines what makes a flash video run smoothly vs stuttering? Is it mostly due to network connections (PC is wired, laptop is wireless)?
I'm certain there must be a workaround to this, at least an unofficial one.
It sounds like you are having memory leak problems.
If it plays fine when your computer is freshly started and it ends up being terrible, that's a memory leak, not a Flash issue.
Alternatively, are you sure this isn't a download problem? I have a pretty shitty work laptop with an integrated graphics chip and it does HD video pretty well.
Standby for the huge train of people to take a dump on Adobe.
How would I go solving this memory leak issue (for my PC)?
Not much you can do; it really depends where the memory leak is coming from. What browser (and browser version) are you using? Does the problem go away if you've restarted the browser?
Well, this problem still persists. Upgrading to Windows 7 didn't help, nor did running in IE 32 bit. I'm really not sure why I can't watch HD flash content smoothly. If it's SD, or something around 480p (Hulu), it's fine, and as I mentioned before, WMP also runs with no problems. But HD flash content, especially on fullscreen, is slow and/or choppy.

There are some solutions here, but I'm still trying them out.
