Ok so for starters this TV isn't new. I've had it for a good 8 years or so. Its a flat screen but with a tube, it plays up to 1080i, it was great back when i got it super high end. Anyways my problem is really weird:
The TV sometimes does not turn on, it will sit with the "stand by" light blinking. I can hear it trying to turn on, and then clicking itself back off again. If i leave the TV alone for a while, then try to turn it on, it often will then turn on, and stay on indefinately, its getting it to turn on reliably in the first place that is the problem. I am getting no degredation in picture quality or anything like that when its on, and it isn't turning itself off. It just kind of turns on (i can hear the tube turning on.) and then it clicks and turns off instantly during its start off or whatever, and goes into this "stand by". I really dont get it This is a Sony Trinitron btw.

DLP is a rear projector TV, the old-school big screens that look like a box with a matte screen.
You could take it to a TV shop and pay $Texas for repairs, or just get a new TV for probably the same cost.

Its 42" so i dont think its projection...the picture is actually really clear for a bigger tv (not slimline.). As far as i know its CRT.
You need to call a tech guy . TVs are serious business and really dangerous to mess around with the innards.
