Insomnia

Throughout my last semester, I've had trouble sleeping. I'd lay down in bed and close my eyes, but not be able to fall into the comforts of slumber. Things got worse at the end of the term. During finals, I "temporarily" adjusted my sleep schedule around my exams to maximize my studying time, going to bed at 4AM. I haven't been able to change my sleep schedule back to normal since then.

The large amounts of games you see in my sig haven't exactly helped in the matter; I've turned on my DS, insisting that I'll screw around for only half an hour, and wow, is it really four in the morning? But even when I don't feel like playing, even when I am dead tired, I can still lay in bed for upwards of an hour without sleeping, or sometimes I just pace in circles aimlessly around the house. Schedules don't work; there's a James Bond marathon today at 6AM, so I absolutely insist to myself that I go to be as soon as possible, yet here I am at 0430 surfing the goddamned internet.

Help, please?

At least an hour before you go to bed, turn off the tv, computer monitor and the handheld portable video games. Read something printed. Tell your mind it's time to go to sleep, rob it of all that extraneous stimulation. If you like to leave your computer on but it's in one of those cases with the blue LEDs in it, cover those up or turn your computer off. Blue light signals your body to stop producing melatonin.

yes, agreed on getting away from the electronic stimulation...that solves problems for most people

i did not know that blue light did this, i have a bunch of blue lights in my room, i think i'll look into covering those up

you may also try a little bit of melatonin before going to sleep, but don't take TOO much or you'll have some crazy dreams which always make me feel like i got absolutely no sleep

i think the best advice is the turn off the computer/tv early stuff
