Bookworm Adventures 2: An additional dalliance pertaining to verbosity.

Salutations, my fellows! Do you feel your tremendous vocabulary necessitates an outlet? Or is your fucking knowledge of goddamn words too shitty? Bookworm has the answers.

Bookworm

Release by PopCap to PC, Bookworm started as a simple puzzle game that challenged you to take a grid and create words. Larger words meant more points. Smaller words increased the chance of burning, game-ending tiles appearing.

It was a simple game that combined fun with vocabulary. You can buy it off Steam or even snag it on the iPhone/iPod Touch.

How do you follow up a successful game that focuses on words?

By having words beat the shit out of people.

Bookworm Adventures took the lexicon-lovin' series into an RPG. Given a small grid, you have to find words to deal massive damage. The bigger the word, the more damage. Throw in some loot, and people will deem you insane for stressing over the importance of a word with X, Y, or Z in it. But they don't understand that the boss is immune to three letter words and fuck I'm out of health potions.

A creative merging of the original game and RPGs, the game is awesome. Not surprisingly, Tycho adores it.

The sequel is coming in about a week, so it's time to prepare.

This time you get allies to fight along side you. That's right, you can have Mother fucking Goose kick ass alongside you. And you're kicking ass with words related to clowns. Game of the Year material, folks.

Above all else: it's more Bookworm.

Even better! You can get a free game when you pre-order, and play the game a bit earlier than the launch day chumps. Free game options include:

-Bookworm
-Feeding Frenzy 2
-The Wizard's Pen
-Bejeweled
-Dynomite!

The game is due July 30th, so pre-order before July 28th to take advantage of the deal.

I wanted to like the first game, but it just seemed too janky. There were a lot of words it didn't acknowledge, and I didn't enjoy the gameplay structure much.

I hope this is good, though. Word games rock.

Full game and demo are out. I hope there aren't any timed games, or else if there are that you can use the keyboard. The timed side game was hell with a laptop touchpad.

Backgrounds are better, animations are better, and I like the companion system. Rainbow tiles are something I sorely missed in the first one, and add a bit more strategy to the game.

The new artifact-doohickeys are a nice switch, and I'm a big fan in particular of
the Mad Hatter's Hat, which you WEAR AROUND IN THE GAME!
which makes Scramble a more strategic decision AND has helped fill my board with gems.

The ability to pick and choose the mini-game from a list is another plus.

Is it worth the $20? I'd say yeah, easy. But then I played the living crap out of the first one, so I'm biased.

I downloaded the demo, and while I still really dig the concept, I can't believe it doesn't recognize words like "tonfa"

    I bet Scribblenauts does. Harumph!
