So, the new puppy chewed on the power cord for my mom's old iBook G4 while I was at camp. I have been asked to acquire a new cord, and I don't know how to start. The iBook's battery is dead, and the original cord has gone to the dump.

I found this table on Apple's site, but it says "replace like-for-like', which I'm guessing means "if you had part X originally, don't buy part Y".

Furthermore, I'm unsure of just where to go to get a replacement. The Apple Store site doesn't seem to have any support for the old stuff, and everything on Google just appears equally sketchy.

So, my question is:
1) what should I be buying to replace the cord on this iBook?
2) where should I be buying it from?

You could take a look at Craigslist, sometimes there are listings for random stuff like that. I would also contact Apple just in case they have spare parts for that lying around.

I got burned buying a knockoff power supply for a macbook off of Ebay. It died in under a month. It was definitely a cheap knockoff though. Macally put out a decent power supply for the powerbook/ibook. It didn't try to be an Apple knockoff, just a replacement power supply. Still works years later.

So it turns out this isn't the first time we've had to replace the cord, and my father just went into his history on some site and reordered it. :\ I'm gonna get this one locked up.
