I'm building a new gaming rig, haven't had one in going on 10 years. It's not really going to be used for anything aside from that and dicking around on the internet. Is Home going to be enough for me or do I need to get Business or Ultimate? What's the difference between them?
All you need is a Live ID (don't have one? It's free) and presto, you can get a key and ISO for both the 32 and 64-bit versions.
Since you're building a fresh new bit of awesomeness I'm going to assume you're running at least 4GB of RAM and should probably get the 64-bit version.

Looking for a DX:HR OnLive code for my kid brother.
Can trade TF2 items or whatever else you're interested in. PM me.
Since it hasn't explicitly been said, you want Win7 Home Premium. The next version up really only gives you the XP emulator, and Ultimate is trying to justify itself with Bitlocker and some extra languages. Unless you have some sort of unique need, Home Premium will do everything you want to do. There is also a Win7 thread in here with more info.
And since someone posted a link to Vista and mentioned the upgrade coupon, lets be absolutely clear here: if you buy an upgrade version of Windows 7, and you decide at some later date you want to format, you are installing two operating systems. Or you are taking an image of a brand new Win 7 installation, and just recopying that. You cannot install a Win7 upgrade onto an empty hard drive.
Sorry I misunderstood, I thought you were implying that if you install the RC, you can only upgrade to Ultimate. Not that if you run the RC you should run it as Ultimate. Though I don't think most people would see anything in Ultimate they'd use or miss. But that's what my comment was based on, ignore it.

And if you really want Vista, you want this version: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116677
(because it's home-pre-64-bit and comes with a Win 7 upgrade coupon.)
The Win7 thread implies that it is illegal to get the RC without a beta key, is that not true? Because this is what I'd rather do if possible.

if you get the RC the only choice is ultimate
Could you link to something saying that? Because I definitely haven't seen that distinction anywhere.

in any case, it's free, why wouldn't you install ultimate?
