Little King's Story: From the makers of Super Mario RPG & FFVII

So Gamefly just shipped Little King's Story.

Trailer via IGN

As someone who thoroughly enjoyed My Life As King I can't wait for this to arrive. Basically you're a king (yay) and you go exploring the countryside with your pikm... I mean citizens. You gather treasure to build up the infrastructure of your country and put people to work. The jobs you give them allow you to use their abilities to [strike]exploit[/strike] explore more of the countryside. The bigger your kingdom, the more [strike]pikmin[/strike] citizens you can have follow you around. Also, you can travel by cannon.

Home site. Caution: turn down your speakers!

Anyone else been looking forward to this? I know it's sickeningly sweet, but it appears there is a great game under there. And you can travel by cannon.

First pic courtesy of Ampix, the rest scavenged from the net.

Apparently other countries that aren't Japan got this before us. What the fuck is up with that?

But seriously, I cannot wait to play this and got very irritated with all the delays.

Also coming to me via Gamefly!

I sent back Red Faction: Guerilla and just happened to be looking at my queue and saw this came out today, so added it to the top and voila! Lucky me.

I put it on my goozex 10 minutes or so after it opened. 12th in line! Usually that would put me around 40-60... must not be in high demand :(

Getting this today after work. The old fashion way; Walking into EB and dealing with all thier bullcrap*.

*(Note, EB employees in my city are actually very friendly and informed, but i gather that means theyre abnormal.)

Shortly after that i am stealing my friends Wii, as its gathering dust and he wont be able to think of an excuse to keep it.

Little King's Story sequel (if it sells well enough) could have multiplayer!

That's a nice option, no doubt, but Kimura needs just a bit more ambition. A few slight tweaks to that sentence and you get "Little King Story sequel will have IR control!"

Much as I love this game, multiplayer will need some radical overhauls to even begin to work, assuming they mean a versus mode.
Co-op would make all kinds of sense, though.

Considering how obnoxious aiming seems to be, IR control could have been handy.

So, I just beat the Onii King and that was easy. Mostly everything was easy up til then, and now I am struggling.

I have found a few items. Cupids Bow = <3.

    That said...
This game actually becomes fairly difficult. Those blasted chickens are ridiculous. While going through the sunflower area, I lost 12 men. ALL 7 of my grunts and 5 archer dudes. Do I lose my Cupid's Bow? I hope not. That thing is awesome.

That said, the game really opens up and there is just so much to do. I don't know how to handle the world, but the game is a lot of fun. I'm eager to learn what the astronomer is yammering on about.

Hold off on going after many chickens until you've unlocked cooks, who will kill them in 1 hit. The optional Guardians you unlock through missions should do it

And to pre-empt the topic before it arises in the next few days, here are the obscure ways to unlock the secret jobs in the endgame
For the Knight, simply complete salary quests and buy weapon and armour upgrades until you eventually get the option to buy the cursed armour. Notice that it sits in your throne room. At night, it will come to lfie and wander out of the castle, and you'll find it in the town square if you fail to intercept it. Talk to the Knight.
For the Doctor, complete school donations until you're told that one has been trained there. He's quite tricky to find due to his daily routine, but appears to always be found outside the hospital on the dot of 6 pm.
For the Wizard, do everything. Every building, every upgrade, every job. Then wait. Eventually a carefree adult will approach the throne and tell you where to find him.

I still haven't found that bloody doctor! I've been waiting, hungering on the doorstep of that hospital for DAYS and NOTHING.

Incidentally, I already have the Wizard, so the doctor is not necessary for obtaining the wizard. In other news, the wizard is overpowered.

There are about 56 artifacts if I remember right. Cupid's Bow is one of the best and should be with you at all times, there are a couple of melee items you can get that have a chance to stun as well.

Some stuff I didn't realise at the start:

-You can send the royal guard into houses to collect taxes.
-Also once you build a church you can send them in to get married and produce a child.
-If you die at a boss you can keep trying him, but dying anywhere else takes you back to the last save (so save often). Note that guardians are not bosses.
-When the option arises, paying Liam's salary unlocks new stuff from the merchant.
-AFAIK Mr M does fuck all the entire game so don't waste your time constantly talking to him to try and figure out what he's for.

:whistle:Land of Hope and Glory, Mother of the Free,
How shall we extol thee, who are born of thee?
    Wider still and wider shall thy bounds be set;
God, who made thee mighty, make thee mightier yet

The soundtrack is indeed fantastic. Land of Hope and Glory as a title theme? William Tell Overture while fighting a zombie cow? Bass heavy Can-Can while fighting a crazy awesome boss?

Although I really missed their charming rendition of Ode to Joy after getting the last castle upgrade, the replacement was nothing like as good.
