Rock Band 2 question

So the instructions I see online say that a password was supposed to come with Rock Band 2 that would allow me to import Rock Band 1 songs to my HD. I did not find a password in my box. Are these old instructions and a password is no longer needed?

    The code is on the back cover page and it is for downloading 20 bonus tracks not exporting the RB1 songs. The G&T covers exporting better then I do.

    I thought you had to pay 400 points/$5 to import Rock Band 1 songs into Rock Band 2.
