What if the unit in question (chaos termies) normally come with a twin-linked bolter. Does combi-ing it reduce it to a non-twin linked or will it be a twin-linked bolter + 1 shot whatever. Does it twin-link the 1 shot too?
You take the twin-linked bolter and throw it away then pick up the combi-bolter instead. No-one has yet managed to twin-link a combi-weapon.

Though there was that one dude in the 2nd ed Ultramarine codex that had a twin-linked plasma gun instead of the stormbolter on his terminator suit...

Actually the twin linked bolter and stormbolter are based off combi weapons the Chaos marines didn't get post heresy stormbolters so they are left with older less advanced combi bolters

It has come to my attention that should anyone want a 17% discount at Maelstromgames.co.uk all you have to do is enter the following voucher code: SUMMER-MADNESS

Just finished my order and I tested making another one using the discount and apparently you can use it multiple times. Only valid until monday tough.

Yeah, the discount is good for as long as the sale is lasting. With free shipping on top of that, I used it clear off my wishlist of Warhammer goods. I know solemnly swear I will not buy anything more fromg GW until everything I have is built and painted.

I have a huge list of stuff I want to buy but I managed to avoid ordering any minis, just some books. I still have way over 4000 points of stuff to paint between my three armies. D:

I promissed myself I'd only buy more once I finish painting an army... That's going to take a while at the speed I paint.

    Okay. Hold the phone.

    Eisenhorn, book 2.
Someone sell me on the fact that he rebinds Cherubal. Now, I admit that for some strange reason I waited like a month before finishing the last 3 chapters, so I may have missed something. (I have no idea why, it's not like I'm ever busy). But I find it a bit hard to swallow that he spent all this time trying to prove he wasn't a heretic and that Cherubal didn't mean anything to him, so then he goes ahead and RECREATES him after finally succeeding in taking him down?

Unless, of course, I misinterpreted the "freedom" thing. I read it as Cherubal wanting Eisenhorn to kill him. The whole "wah wah my very existence is painful I want to die." But did it actually mean something like, he was free from his physical form so he got stronger or something? If it's the second one, I can buy it.

    BAH!

    Cherubael is a
bound daemon - it's essence sucked out of its natural habitat and stuffed into a corpse then kept there with mystical chains and wards. When Eisenhorn "killed" it the first time, he merely destroyed the host body and let the beast go home. Imagine you've been trapped in a space suit for years and someone lets you out.
Existence isn't painful for him, necessarily, he just hates being a prisoner; Eisenhorn realised that this was his intent after the fact so he decided to find and re-bind Cherubael back into a similar prison as punishment for tricking him.
It was the other one that was destroyed utterly (maybe).

Hmmmm...maybe i'll pick up a baneblade variant for my chaos.
Which type do you lot think I should go for? The stormlord looks cool with the vulcan mega bolter, but maybe an anti-heavy like the shadowsword would be more useful. Maybe I should just go for a straight up baneblade?

Anyone know where I can buy just plasma sponsons? I have one set, I'd like to have one more. And I don't want to buy another Demolisher.

Speaking of which, I finished putting together a Demolisher! Looks ace. Just need to magnetize the sponsons now.

So Eisenhorn just did it to be a dick, and wasn't trying to prevent him from repossessing something like that other one did to Husmaan? Hmm.

It's also insinuated that this is the beginning of where he is becoming corrupted. I don't think he was trying to do it to be a dick, I think his excuse was more that he was attempting to keep a dangerous daemon from being able to run around rampant, and he didn't want it coming after him again (because he didn't know for sure if that was it's intent, although we as the reader know Cherubael had no interest in Eisenhorn aside from using him to gain his freedom). At any rate, he's beginning to become more corrupted.

From the 40k Wiki on Cherubael:
Following this Eisenhorn re-summoned Cherubael and imprisoned him in a host body, sealing him within a void-vault that he might suffer eternally, caged in flesh and trapped, for using him.
Makes sense to me. Cherubael basically manipulated Eisenhorn's life to be freed. As paypack Eisenhorn imprisons him once again.

As SJ said, this is the start of his downfall.

They follow exactly the same rules as Infantry except where modified by the Unit Type entry on p. 51 of the Rulebook, which does not mention them being unable to run; therefore they can.

    So.

I created some horrible gimmick list for Apocalypse. Partially because I found an utterly ridiculous combination of effects and strategic assets, and partially because fuck first-turn-lictor-deep-striking Genestealers

Namely, it was an Ulthwe Seer Council formation (IE: Eldrad, 3 Farseers, 5+ Warlocks with augment and enhance), with Jain Zar and Maugan Ra in the squad itself, boosted by Enhance. They would deploy next to the eldar Waygate, which made all psychic tests auto-pass. This, coupled with enhance, meant that I had a squad that could throw out up to five 36' strength 4-9 large blasts around the table without having to worry about LOS.

And if one of the usual apoc players tried his usual thing with the genestealers they would be facing a whole lot of rerollable 4+ ward saves, and two sets of I8-10 S7 attacks.

Followed by Warp Spiders, flanking Striking Scorpions, and a squad of Swooping Hawks to take advantage of the free assets from the formation.

They were ignored the entire game, despite taking out pretty much every single synapse creature in the middle 2/3 of the board.
