So Rane made a thread today where he lied to us and said he got married.
Well just a few minuets ago my girlfriend of 4 years and I broke up. It was semi-mutual. We both agreed that shit was bad. Things have been getting worse between us for awhile, but she thought we could work it out. I disagreed as we've been trying to work it out for awhile now and it hasen't gotten better just worse.
It was the worst kind of break up because neither of us where really mad or at the other. If she had cheated on me or had been a total bitch, or vice versa, then things would have been different. But to be honest I havent been happy and she's noticed and I guess I've been dropping hints. I love her and she loves me so it was a really hard breakup and I really never actually said were over because I am a pussy when it comes to these things. Like a big one. The best thing I can say was even though I broke her heart she was amazingly adult about it and stayed mostly calm (we where both crying our eyes out) and that was a surprise.
So now I'm alone, drinking, and trying to figure out what to do with myself now that the biggest part of my life of the last 4 years is gone.

I would have thought this would have made it a better kind of break up? If you broke up because of cheating or whatever then it would just be all about anger and betrayal and hurt feelings in general.
yeah well this is more of a we love each other and cared but in the end, I wasn't happy because she was kind of controlling and very anti-social, she was totally happy with me though. That made it really tough on me.

I remember my first breakup. Girl was being absolutely insane and so I said we need a break. Watching her drive away was one of the most painful experiences of my life. Which, considering my life so far, seems really fucking silly but there it is - it hurt a bunch.
I was a bitch though, went crawling back after three days and we stayed together for another two years before I started being the crazy one and she dumped me.

Nevertheless, a mutual break-up is better than the alternative.
If what you say is true, things would have only gotten worse if you two didn't split, which could only lead to bad places.
The worst part is that, to this day, I have still not received a reason for this breakup.

The first of them dumped me and I was pretty upset. I actually came here (or maybe this was the EZboard days) and bitched about it that night, back in '03.
I dumped the next one because we ran out of shit to talk about. Also, I was joining the navy in two months anyway so there was no point in drawing it out any longer.
Interlude: I got married to the first girl here. When we divorced it was mutual.
The next girl I dated dumped me, but I was literally about to sit her down and tell her that we should break up when she said the same thing to me.
I dumped my last girlfriend because I didn't like her that much after about a month. She took it pretty well. Now she is one of my roommates, and she is free to irritate the crap out of me on a regular basis.

well I didn't want emotional shit. But their was. It was like I said, I wasn't happy, she was, I have a habit of putting other people first. Always. Even though it broke both of us to do it, I haven't been happy in awhile and once I told her that she seemed pretty determined that we should go through with it. I didn't want to because I care about her, but I have to be selfish sometimes.

two weeks later she has a new boyfriend who is crazy for her and tells her he'd move anywhere in the country to be with her when she gets deployed to a base.. she says ok thats fine
then she graduates from basic training, new boyfriend rides with her family 8 hours from oklahoma city to san antonio texas to attend her basic training graduation, where she dumps him and leaves him with the awkward car ride home
