I've had good luck with sites like rottentomatoes and moviephone. They have 'search nearby theatres' buttons, but I usually only use it for big movies. Your indie film mileage may vary.

Moviephone works great (movies.aol.com). Fandango is pretty good, too. You can search by film, or just look at all the theaters in your area, based on zip-code.

Hurt Locker isn't playing anywhere in MS. I was curious if there was some type of "schedule" or something that would hint at whether or not it would eventually come here.
I used to heart Fandango until they started getting a lot of movie times wrong in my area. Use Fandango to see if something is playing near you, but then use the theater chain's website (Cinemark around here) or call the theater itself to double check the show time.
Just keep your eye open at your local multiplex, usually these limited release movies will show up in a few weeks to a month after the official release.
Google it. Seriously, google the name of your town and "cinemas" and google spits out a nicely formatted listing of all the nearby cinemas and what they are playing for the next few days.
