Going through hell. Verizon bought my cell company. 200 $ bill

It all started with me trying to get my verizon BB to work correctly on a coverted alltel area. I spent countless hours.. 8+ with phone tech. I went to two stores also where they completely broke the data working on the phone, then refused to remove the data. Anyways I gave up on getting data to work. I got a cell phone bill that went from 91 orig. To 180.00 because they said I signed a new contract with verizon when I put the data on my BB which I bought completely out of contract. I never signed anything or even consent to a new 2 year contract. I just turned data on over the phone... WHICH DOESN"T EVEN WORK..

I have tried everything to get the contract removed but all I get is I have to pay an ETF.. I have no idea what to do. They just loop me through the same levels over and over... :x

Don't pay it, bring your BB to a different phone company. Or were you already in a contract with them?

And then write an email or formal letter to Verizon explaining your situation and why you will not pay.

    But IANAL... yet.

First, report it to the Consumerist - http://consumerist.com/ they loooooove stories about companies trying to screw customers. Then, EECB (Executive Email Carpet Bomb) Verizon, using this handy list of Verizon executives emails http://consumerist.com/consumer/verizon/14-verizon-executives-phone-numbers-239216.php

Also, continue calling Verizon, continue escalating the customer service calls to supervisors and up. You didn't sign anything, they don't have a contract.

    :edit: That's a somewhat old list, so here's a newer one - http://verizarape.com/view/Verizon/9551/Contact-Info-For-Executives.html

Double check your bill too... I noticed on mine autopay wasn't in effect for July, so you had to pay it manually...

I talked to the Verizon rep at our store about this one, this is a definite problem with the switch not just them trying to screw you. rates and number are bot hsupposed to stay the sam as long as you are still on the alltell phone and your contract isn't renewed until you sign for it to be at which point you can switch to a verizon phone or keep your old one

either way this should not have happened. pitch a fit with verizon customer service

edit: go to a walmart in your area. they're one of few places that sell verizon who don't get commission so they're not just there to sell you something. they have their own line for customer service and should be able to clear up problems with the bill pretty quickly

pay it and then drop anything you've ever had to do with verizon as they will ruin your credit with a quickness. Once you've paid your final bill, check back with them in about 2 to 3 weeks for the secret -real- final bill that they won't tell you about even if they have your address, phone number and e-mail.

Is this the same blackberry you were dealing with in this thread?

Because given the last post in that one I can give you about a dozen reasons why you have a 200$ bill.

It was 200 because they charged me 30 for early upgrade, which I never got. Plus verizon rates when I am alltel. Anyways I had the bill refunded to the normal level but I can't get rid of the contract they added..

I never signed anything I don't see how I am in another contract.

I don't quite understand why you are saying they added the 2 years.

When did you get the Blackberry? Did you pay a few hundred and sign a 1 year contract? If you got the BB for free or even $50-$100, chances are you were always on a 3 year contract.

Can you put down everything that happened since the beginning of the previous thread and where you are at presently, preferably in a bulleted list? I will tell you exactly where they extended your contract and charged you fees.

I am going through the same problem, i'm so fed up with this company. I call customer support and i have to wait more than 30 min. to speak to someone about whatever question or problem im having and all they can answer me is "Im so sorry ma'm" :x

I go into a Verizon store (because all of the Alltel stores disappeared) and they have no clue of whats going on !!!!!!!!! Yesterday i spent the whole day dealing with Verizon people, they kept transferring me to different departments, i imagine it was because they don't know. SO i wonder if these employees are getting the correct training on the whole conversion deal ????

EliteLamer: I have understood that if you decide to upgrade your phone, replace it if it was lost or stolen and you get the one from the insurance you MUST begin a new contract...

If i were you, i would ask to speak to a supervisor and let them know how you feel, tell them your only paying what you used to pay and refuse to pay the rest and they will work with you, that happened to me like 2 months ago and they reseted my contract back to the way it was
I deffinetly understand what you are going through, I never imagined that a simple cell phone company could make me go through this crap!!! This is very stressful....
