my biggest hurdle to playing drums is leg stamina, especially for those double and triple kicks. can anyone recommend exercise(s) that target the muscle(s) that lift your knee up (quadraceps?) specifically?
Play around with the height of your stool. This guy that used to play drums for my friends band would always look like he was gonna die after two or three songs until his stool got stolen at some show they did. Before he got a new one, he was using a step ladder at a practice and found that he was able to last about three times as long just by sitting at a better height. I'm sure mileage will vary on the effectiveness of this, but I think it'd be worth looking into.
I was going to suggest calf raises... maybe do some squats and a general leg workout? (Leg curls, leg extensions, calf raises, squat, box steps, etc etc)
The quadriceps mainly act on the knee, your soleus mainly on the ankle. If I'm thinking of the right thing, you're moving your hip joint so you would want to do things along the line of full sit-ups (not crunches), v-sits, and especially hanging leg raises to focus on those muscles.
If you sit higher up it might also be easier, like mushroom stick says.
If you have access to a gym, see if they have a rowing machine. If not try biking or some other activities that utilises the leg for long periods of time.
