Questions about Wireless N router, PS3, remote play

So, i just bought this Belkin Wireless N+ router to upgrade my home network. My PS3 is connected by a CAT 5e cable to the router, and my laptop is connected to the router wirelessly. My goal is to get TVersity to stream my movies and music to my PS3 as fast as possible. However, my eyeball test doesn't see an improvement.

1. Does my setup make sense? I bought a CAT 6 cable when I got the router, but it seems like a CAT 5e cord should get the speed I need. The wireless N connection from the laptop will be the limiting factor for my speed, so not getting full 1000Mbps doesn't matter. Also, currently my laptop shows a connection speed of 135Mbps (per Network and Sharing Center in Vista), still better than the G speed I was getting before, but not close to the 300Mbps the CNet reviewer got (unless I'm comparing apples to oranges). Any tips for getting better speed?

2. I don't see any noticeable speed increase when streaming/copying from laptop to PS3. Is there a way to monitor the transfer speed I'm getting, either on the PS3 or on the computer?

3. While I was able to get remote play between my PSP and my PS3 to work well with my old wrt54g, this new router is currently turning my PS3 on automatically if I enable remote play on my PS3. Internet searches tell my to update the firmware of the router, which I did, but it's still doing it. Now, remote play is kinda useless, but it annoys me that I can't do it anymore, and if I can't get it fixed, I need to decide if it annoys me enough to get a different router while my receipt is still good.

CAT 5e is sufficient cabling for 10/100/1000.

Have you tried connecting your PS3 to the wireless network to see if the Remote Play issue clears up? I believe you can also connect via ad hoc to the PS3. This might limit you to playing within the vicinity of the PS3, though. Its worth a shot for testing.

Try copying the files to the PS3. That's where you'll see the speed improvement big time. Also if you're streaming you can fast forward and rewind comfortably at the slower speeds. On my older 10/100 network everything would choke with the PS3, my 10/100/1000 is a life savor.

I didn't try connecting the PS3 wirelessly because I would lose the speed increase (PS3 only has wireless G, not N). I may still try it though to see if I can pinpoint the router problem to wired connections only.

I rely on the wireless connection, since the PS3 is in a different room. I only stream xvid compressed files, and it works juts fine for me.
