Nose Ring

So my 6 month anniversary is coming up, and although I don't need to, I want to get my girlfriend a gift. Now, I've settled on getting her a diamond nose ring because she's been using these crappy body jewelry pieces that always fall out because she has a problem justifying getting something nice and completely useless. The thing is, I have absolutely no idea what to get. I was there when she got it pierced and it's on the right nostril, but other than that I really am lost.

I was thinking about this ring.

Thing is, how big should the actual ring be? She doesn't want it to be really flashy but not completely invisible either. I'm not sure what the deal is with the twist/fishtail/bone thing. I think she has an L-shaped one right now.

So, please, anyone out there with intimate knowledge of nose piercings help me out. Thanks guys.

I have a cheapie one of the left nostril variety (I also have the left side of my nose pierced), I have had ones with three 90 degree bends in the, but the curvy ones like the left or right nostril stay in better and hurt less, in my experience

Does she wear gold much? If not I'd see if you could find a white-metal variety, personally I wear very little gold and the gold coloured gold and a diamond would be a bit too flashy for me to wear (white gold looks a bit subtler, more my taste, but that's me not your gal)

what you really need to know is what size she uses. i have a 18g on my left side. most are 18 or 20. to keep it from falling out, get her the one with the screw. she would pretty much have to rip her nose off to lose it, but it isn't that tricky to get in or out. if she doesn't have a screw already, she will have to get use to it in her nose.

in my experience in getting jewelry from men they never really pick out something i would wear, but i grin and put it on anyway. maybe you should run it by her first and then she can pick out one she really loves.

Not exactly the advice you're looking for, but if you want an actual diamond, I wouldn't do it off that site.

As for the actual question, when in doubt, go with subtle. And agreed with ihmmy that white gold might be better.

    Some questions you need answered:

Does your girlfriend have any metal allergies? Some people are allergic to gold, silver, base metal, etc.

Does she prefer silver/white gold or yellow gold?

Does she wear a ring or a stud? Some women find an actual ring to be too much for them.

Does she use 18g or 20g? I think someone already stated this.

It’s a great gift idea. I commend you on doing something fairly original. There is a fair bit of real gold body jewelry out there but if you are going with a diamond make sure it is certified. Perhaps get on Google and do some research into customer satisfaction with the website.

Get body jewelry from this place. I've ordered a few hundred dollars worth of stuff from them over the years and its always been the best price and stuff for the money.

Ooh thanks. Ya I just tried to remember things she told me and think about what she would like, I really don't want to ruin the surprise though since she always gets me in the gift department. I decided on a white gold, 1.5mm diamond one. Actually, this one to be precise. Thanks a lot guys!
