So I've got a job interview later today and my mom got me thinking about my university degree. I just graduated in June and so of course I included that in my resume. But do I need to bring proof of my degree to the interview? Like the actual degree itself? I'm sorry if this sounds weird. I'm assuming the answer is no since I've never been asked for proof of my high school diploma but maybe that wasn't as big a deal.
Edit: What's a good way of asking what the pay is like? The job listing that I used to apply is no longer available so I've lost a lot of information.

No. They'll call the university for the background check. Good luck with the interview!
(Yeah, it's a wierd question, but no one really covers that so it's not that wierd)
If they're interested, they'll ask you to get your registrar's office to forward a copy of your transcript. Sometimes they'll even take an unofficial copy, which you may be able to print yourself from your school's website.

One quick tip: Bring a copy of your resumé on resumé paper. You can pick it up at Staples / Officemax. It's stupid but it can make an impression in that it sets you apart from the scrubs that printed it out on 20lb laser white.
Ok thanks. I'm going to bring it anyway not because I don't trust you guys but because my mom will spend all day worrying about it since she's already convinced herself it's necessary. I'd rather not hear about it for the next 4 hours.
It's just a tutoring gig at a "learning centre" and I've got a degree in English.

I don't know about you, but my degree is like 11x17, and I'll be damned if I'm folding or even rolling up that thing to bring it to a damn job interview.
Really, tell your mom not to worry. You're just going to possibly ruin your degree in the process of bringing it there, and you'll look pretty silly in the interview.
Your paper degree is not the proof that you completed your education. If that were the case, I would have just printed one off instead of working for it for four years.
Seriously, don't bring your diploma to the interview. You'll look like and idiot. This is what resumes, CV's and run-of-the-mill background checks are for.
Either stand up to your mom, or stick it in the car and don't take it inside with you.

Well you can't go around upseting mom. It isn't worth it. Print out a copy and BURY it in the folder you are carrying your resume in. You will look like a jackass if you volunteer a copy of your degree.

If they don't broach the subject, wait until the end when they will inevitably ask if you have any questions for them. Ask the interviewer to describe their benefits and what your projected salary range would be. Don't ask them to pin an exact number down on the first interview.
And holy shit, don't bring your diploma with you. If your mom is deathly afraid it will cost you the job, make a small production about physically bringing it with you, but leave it in your car for the interview. You will look like a tard bringing it in to the interview.

Explain to your mother that if they want to see it, they will ask you to bring it when you fill out your tax paperwork. They do not need you to brandish it at the interview.
I brought it but it's cool, the interview was pretty casual and it never came up so I never volunteered it. I figured it wasn't necessary but it was a small gesture to calm my mom down. No harm no foul.
Oh I got the job. Woooo!

Yes, bring copies of your resume on nice paper. You don't know how many people you may be talking to and they may not have it printed out, etc, etc...
Yes, bring a pen. Why? You may have stuff to fill out and it's a very nice subtle way of showing that you're on the ball.
Good luck!
we also talk about other random shit and clown upon each other

This is not necessary even.
