Welcome to my Let's Play of Alien versus Predator 2 (The Marine/Alien/Predator Campaigns)
This is my 6th (I think) LP for Penny Arcade. I hope these turn out to be as entertaining for you as the others seemed to be.
Right, so whats this about then?
Alien Versus Predator 2 is a FPS shooter from 2001. I will be playing through the Marine Campaign for the first time, so all the scares will get me…bastards.
The game was Supplied to me very kindly by John Zoidberg from our own forums. Thanks man!

Aliens versus Predator 2 is a science fiction first-person shooter computer game developed by Monolith Productions.
Like its predecessor, Aliens versus Predator 2 allows the player to choose one of three characters: an Alien, Predator, or a human Colonial Marine. Each character has different objectives, abilities, and weapons at their disposal. The single-player campaigns present the player with conventional series of levels to progress through that are designed around the abilities of each character.
As the Colonial Marine, the player uses a number of weapons to combat Aliens and Predators. The Marine wears armor for protection, and uses an image intensifier, a flashlight and flares to improve visibility in dark areas.
The layout

For those that never played it, the game is almost worth it for these first 5 or so missions off the bat. You start as a facehugger and have to escape from a bunch of marines into the ventilation ducts, find an isolated person, face hug them, and then you get to burst from their chest. From there you have to eat bugs and grow, eventually finding enough food to cocoon and become a full grown Alien, from there you have to escape the marine base, but not before getting the chance to take revenge on all of the marines you were so scared of as a facehugger.
You should do a quick one shot of those first few Alien missions!
Does anyone know if the online community for this is still going at all? It went strong for a while but then died pretty hard core and I haven't played any online for quite some time.
and yeah, washout, i was playing a few weeks ago. still kinda fun, too. aliens is still best fun to play in deathmatch
I'm actually pretty surprised at how good the mood is set in the game. It starts you out with that creepy "When's it going to happen, when's it going to happen" thing, and then gets frantic in a hurry. So I'm really looking forward to seeing where it goes.

So this game is cheap scary and fake difficult? I guess that's mildly realistic.
Also, that red head must be related to Burt from Mary Poppins. And the Black Marine is so ethnic. And the subtitles, while making a valiant effort, are almost completely useless.

The scare factor is really when it's like "Hey go crawl through this alien hive and let me know how that goes!" and you are just like "Fuuuuck.."

Or maybe sheer panic at the realization that, yes, those blips on the detector are now multiplying and gaining on your Colonial Marine ass.
Also, the exclamation of "ALIEN!" as if some other variety of black, armored, clawed, acid-bleeding beast is going to come scrabbling across the floor after you heedless of massive ammo clips. It's also pretty funny to listen to Helloween yell at the motion detector for not detecting motion when there are aliens going from still to OH SHIT CLAWING MY FACE in zero seconds flat. It actually is a pretty terrible motion sensor, now that he mentions it. It picks up stupid crap like doors and cranes, but aliens 50 feet away and running after you? Nope.
We should get some multiplayer going.
Also Helloween your LP's are good fun, glad you're doing another one, of another game that I love.

I use Windows movie maker defaults to encode it atm. I need to keep it small as my upload rate sucks.
