I have accumulated way too many cheap, promotional ball-point pens in my life. I'm trying to work through them all at the moment by picking one pen, using it exclusively until it runs out, and then starting with the next pen. Once I've used them all up I might treat myself to a quality, refillable pen from a stationary store.
This post could go equally well in an obsessive-compulsive thread. I'd make one, but the squares on my check shirts aren't going to count and carefully catalogue themselves.
The thread where I ask if anyone here is into pen-spinning.
I have seen pens specifically for this activity, otherwise I wouldn't know about it. I know there are at least beginner spinpens and then the expert spinpens, which presumably have a steeper learning curve but end up being indispensible to the true masters of the art.
EDIT: I would link you directly to the pens in question but the website for them appears to screen for awesome and I can't go there without IE bouncing me at the door.
I had one of these in drafting class in middle school
Had just sharpened it and managed to tattoo my pinkie by stabbing it. It wasn't intentional and I've since forgotten how I did it, but I still have the mark. Whee.
Yeah the Rotring 600 is out of production but you can still buy them. Apparently they got out of the pencil business or something? The whole thing is machined brass and can take quite the beating.

This will be the next thing Birthers latch onto.
Most of my primary schooling consisted of making guns out of connector pens.

almost any debater worth his or her salt has some crazy pen-spinning technique
I like pens when I write because they enforce first-draft mentality
Oh yeah, fuck all that shit right in its stupid ass. HATE HATE HATE

Yes, the large majority is wrong. Also white is black, up is down, and left is not a genetic freak of nature.

I have also heard it explained that we are brain-damaged. There is definitely some sort of oppression going on here.
That said, I basically cannot stand to use left-handed versions of things.
Hey don't blame me for your insistance in going against the grain.
You're in Connecticut areas, aren't you?
There are a few places around Northeastern CT that do handmade paper sort of things I think
I am, I'll have to look into that
thanks!
Off the top of my head both The Hoot in Mansfield and The Lily Pad in Willimantic should have handmade paper
I don't know how far away from you that is, it's all the stuff right in my area
I'm down by the sub base, so they're not that far away
might have to take a drive up this weekend if the weather isn't too bad
Which is pretty impossible in Connecticut but still
you should come to Boston the next time we have a forum thing
that is a great looking pencil, but why is it $75? out of production?

These, quite simply, are the superior pens.
Maybe
I have yet to actually go to a forum thing
Also I'm 20 for another year so I can't go out drinking with y'all
we don't always drink, sometimes there's just an obscene amount of hamburger that Otaku can't finish
but no biggie, meeting internet strangers can be a bit odd

That is damn fine drafting pencil.
