Hey I am new here to the penny arcade forums and I was just wondering if anyone had any good advice to fully enjoy these forums.

I would advise you to read the rules, lurk to get a feel for each sub-forum before diving in and making posts and threads, don't be a dick and try not to take anything personally.

The D&D forum will make you feel stupid. Make sure you think about your arguments before you post there. And stay out of threads that you think you will be to emotionally involved in.

Unlike some other boards, we keep pretty on-topic for each sub-forum (Games, Help, Debate, etc.), and each set has it's own limits, so yeah, read through each "Read This First" sticky before posting.

    And welcome!

G&T's fun for video game info/sales/tips/clans. S&E is pretty good for non serious discuss. Venture only into D&D if you can discuss and debate something with solid backing. If you use conjecture to make an argument, someone will use conjecture against it and you'll both go around in circles. Don't take things personally there either.

Eh, I think people are focusing to much on the 'debate' side of things. Yeah, even though it's in the title and everything. That forum is also where you can find threads about a single topic, such as the pro wrestling thread, or the bunch of movie threads that pop up.

Also, before you make a thread in Help and Advice, ask yourself this simple question; Could this be resolve by asking her/him out?

If so, do that instead of getting the internet thought on things.

Go to the Art Corner, make a new thread with a question. That's the best time you could ever have!

Welcome to the internet. I really wish that was everyone's startup page. Just a quick reminder.

This is going to sound snobish., but it's true.

Watch your grammar, punctuation, spelling. No LEET speak around these parts.

Generally all dumb manners of speak are permitted only if being used ironically, and even then in moderation.

So don't be typing in some combination of cAmElCaSe n txtspk b/c itZ c00, fo shizzle indizzle drizzle. w0rd?

D&D's TV show/movie threads are good about just talking about shows. They don't get too much into the "olol source please" crap.

Same with the sport league threads.

    Just don't be a dick.

It took me a good bit of time to type it out, including an extra pass to make sure it was sufficiently stupid.

I'm glad my effort was rewarded. 8-)

    Oh, another one.

In G&T don't make a thread just to ask a question about a game, or cause you're stuck. If it's a big enough, recent game, chances are there's already a main thread for it.

    Amended for general forum application?

Use the search button, it's there for a reason.

And not just to see how many threads pop up when you search "wang".

    ...

    brb searching

I dunno if it caps at 250 or there are a conveniently round number of "wang" threads.

    I'm easily amused.

What can we say, we like the wang here at Penny Arcade.

But yes. The search isn't great, but it's tons better than posting a thread about something when there are already 2 other threads with the exact same information.
