Flying with my PS2

Now, this wouldn't be carry-on but rather in my luggage.

Though I'm pretty sure the PS2 is well known and all, I'm worried they'll think it's some Iraqi bomb or something and take it for 'testing' or some shit.

Anyone flown with their console before? Any problems?

I would call the airline and ask about it.

At worst they'll make you turn it on to make sure it works and is not a bomb. Airlines are used to dealing with electronics in baggage.

They cast a shadow like a sundial in the morning light. It was half past 10.

If you're going to check it, pack it in the original box, with the styrofoam. Otherwise, count on it getting fucked up. Hell, there's a decent chance it'll get fucked up, anyway.

Wasn't the PS2 supposed to be powerful enough to launch nuclear missiles, control anti-aircraft guns or some shit like that?

I don't know you might get it confiscated.

I've put my Xbox in my checked luggage with no problems before. It was in a big duffel surrounded by clothes and nothing got damaged. This was in Canada though, I don't know about the US.

You can put just about anything in checked luggage, they look for pretty specific stuff when checking for any kind of explosives or illegal things. A good rule of thumb is that if it's an electronic device, make sure it isn't turned on, as in it has the batteries taken out or whatever. That's just about the only thing that'll catch attention, some kind of blinking light or beep.

You only need to be worried about getting it damaged, but wrapping it in clothes and putting it in the middle of your suitcase should be enough if you don't have your original box w/ styrofoam, or can't fit it in there.

If you're really concerned about flying with it, you might want to consider shipping it via the post or FedEx or the like.

I have similar concerns about this, so thats why I always pack it with my carry-on. Slim ps2s are great for flights home. They take up zero space.

When I shipped off to Germany for the Army, I stuffed my mini-tower PC case and monitor in my checked luggage. It was fine.

I packed my slim PSTwo in my luggage. No problems.

EXCEPT that I was stopped by security and they went through my luggage because I forgot to declare it as a computer.

It is a computer, and you need to take it out at the airport before being scanned.

I've travelled with it several times - both checked and as a carry on, and never had anyone say anything about it.

Me either. When I moved to Japan (January 2005), I brought my GC and Slimline PS2 and game collection. I was concerned about things getting crushed, so I put cables and a controller or two into a tin lunchbox. I thought they may open my bag and look, cause I know *I'D* certainly think a bunch of wires and mechanical components packed into a small tin box would look like a bomb. But I never heard a word about it, and it all got through OK.

I'm going back to visit the states in six days, and I'm planning on bringing my Wii with me. I'm gonna pack it into my luggage, except for the sensor bar. I'm afraid that may snap or something, so I'm gonna wrap it in a t-shirt or something and bring it in my carry-on.
