I just had an iPod Touch replaced yesterday because the sleep button wasn't working. I bring my beautiful new unit home and find a host of other problems: tilting does not seem to work (can't access album coverflow, for instance, nor can I get Safari to go into widescreen mode), nor does two-touch zoom in Safari.
Thinking that it's a problem with an iPod, I figure - however frustrating it may be - that I'll probably just have to get it replaced, except I decide to check a couple of things out this morning that make me a little confused about the whole thing. I downloaded Labyrinth 3D, since that's a game that uses tilt extensively, and tilt works fine there. Try to zoom in on text in Stanza, and that works fine also.
Does anyone know what could be going on here and how I might be able to fix it? I guess it isn't a problem with the hardware since the apps are working, but other than that I'm at a loss.
Taking it back in would probably be the easiest way to get it fixed, but you know that. Did you try reseting, or even doing a full factory restore on it?
I did try reseting, but not the restore, so I'll try that now. I'm living in Manhattan for one more week and the Apple store here is an absolute zoo and you need to make Genius appointments days in advance, so I was hoping I could maybe get this settled on my own.

Edit: Grr, restoring didn't work.
Maybe the Apple store is my only choice. Sigh.
