Who is the robot in the last panel? The one with the red eyes?

We haven't seen him before, have we?

More to the point, why is he pointing his gun at me?

It's a widely-recognised storytelling trope that when a robot points his gun at the reader, he's breaking the fourth-wall and attempting to kill you just for reading the story.

    I love it.

My only nitpick, and maybe it's just the continuity geek in me, is that Carl is reaching into his jacket with his left hand in the next to last frame, but then is holding it in his right with the left steadying it in the last.

    It's quite the nitpick.

Also, in the first comic it wasn't just performers, it was people with vocal ability, and we haven't seen a singer for the Claptraps. Although I suppose there could be members that aren't in the frame, given the piano.

Mine's even better: The band's name doesn't follow the curvature of the banner.

If the banner were hung perfectly horizontal the name would arch upwards. Which I could believe except it doesn't match the bass drum.

I'm down with doing different things and branching out and experimenting but I just don't dig serious comics. Especially as a serial.

I mean, consider print comics like Brenda Starr, Dick Tracy, Little Orphan Annie, ummm...I dont know. Theres a good number of them. But I don't know a single person who reads them. This is why the "funny" comics outnumber the serious comics by probably ten to one. There's no joy in reading three little panels at a time of some massive story arch.

People turn to the comics page for a quick chuckle. Nothing more. And the overwhelming majority of comics in the papers fail at that. Most are painfully-unfunny zombie comics still getting cranked out long after the original creator died.

But I'm getting off track. A webcomic can solve this three-panel-at-a-time problem by putting as many panels as they want. And this Automatica or whatever does that. But still...seven or whatever panels doesn't really solve the problem.

If its released as a full on graphic novel...I still wouldn't be interested because I outgrew comic books 15 years ago. But, yeah I'd be able to see the appeal at least. Released as a serial though...I dont see it.

Something I always found interesting about T2 was that the machines decided to destroy humanity pretty much on their own. We created our own destruction and all, but it wasn't really deliberate. In this comic, our created man is used as a tool of murder by humans deliberately. I find it much more reasonable to put the blame on ourselves for our own malice than on our machines as an unintended context of our intelligence (maybe also some kinda hubris).
