Hi H/A! With the Fall semester starting for me at the end of this month, and my birthday happening before that (yay) I'm in need of a recording device for lectures. I've been looking around and I can't find anything real solid in terms of reviews of devices in my price range. I'm looking to spend less than $100 dollars, preferably less than $75. I need something that has decent audio recording quality, most of the time I sit in the front row anyway so range isn't the biggest concern. Next is a way for me to import the files onto my computer (I use Vista) whether that be through a USB connection or a microSD card on the device itself.
So, H/A, which digital recording device is best for me?
Most Sandisk MP3 have solid microphones and recording capabilities. Just make sure its pointed in the general direction and they will pick up most lectures fine. Otherwise, there are several Olympus recorders that meet your specifications and price limits.
Alternatively, you could get a USB or 3.5mm plug in microphone and hook it to your laptop. You could use Audacity (a freeware recording program) to record.
