There are alts in the Mouths still and PA people in other Destruction guilds on Iron Rock. I'm trying to get a weekly deal together with some friends on Gorfang Order, and I think there's still a few on Badlands.
With my new character in mind; anyone know if it's possible to do a viable WH build with little or no stealth?
We'll see. The Solomon Kane trailer has got me in the mood to play a WH, and I like the melee/short ranged focus. I'll have to get through to incognito and see how it feels.
So what's the state of this game these days? Fancy new lighting effects are cool and all, but I shudder to think what that'd do to frame rates in open RvR. My biggest complaints when I was last subbed were the sluggish frame rates in oRvR and the iffy responsiveness of the UI.
Mind you, I kinda burned out on oRvR anyway. How are scenario pop rates? Have the server consolidations helped any in that regard, or are scens still generally ignored by most players? I could see coming back for some reliable fixed team size PvP, but I have a hard time imaging copious scenario joy without cross-server scenarios.
I might reinstall just to try out free Tier 1. Is that still happening? How does that work anyway? Does your character stop levelling at the end of T1, or do you ding out and have to pony up or roll a new toon?

WoW runs on cereal boxes with post-processing effects. Unless Mythic have monkeys for coders (not discounting that) or you've an ancient card I don't see them affecting the framerate at all.

if you've got an nvidia graphics card, the game runs fantastic now (as of maybe 2 months ago?)
if you roll on gorfang you'll get scenario ques a-plenty as what is left of our population has congregated there (regardless of faction, which is great)
t3 scenarios are few and far between, however, so pretty much you rock out till lvl 25 go to lOTD and grind your way to 40 kinda with some scenarios in there - maybe hook up with a guild and leach some t4 exp/renown.
the way i see the game right now:
have fun in t1 and t2, take adderal and korean ur way through t3, lube up your posterior for the rape that is t4 until you snag loot from the big raids (if you've found a guild and can stomach PvE), hit RR 60 and proceed to obliterate any and everything that isnt higher RR than you.

ive been playing around with armor, and it is nice, but the lack of toughness really hurts. Sure it is nice when the only thing that crits you for more than 1k is BW, but back to back 1k crits from their PBAOE is just a tad nuts. However that is a different rant.
Hell their entire lets make toughness suck campaign since land of the dead is a page long rant by itself. WHo the hell makes it so you can stack your damage stats in renown ranks 1-40, but make toughness only in the 1-20 bracket, then makes +power items that allow DPS to circumvent stat caps, all the while dumping something like 100+ power on two easily attainable items from LoTD, and the tank equivelant is -3% crit.
News flash mythic, when at 0.0% chance to be crit certain classes still critting you 40% of the time pretty much make me wonder what the heck your balance department was smoking.
Ok a few more questions as I'm feeling the draw to give this game a go again.
1) My server is closing/closed (dunno which yet) of Phoenix Throne and I want to go to Gorfang. I'm Destruction (not that it matters) but if I try to login will it make me change servers THAT moment or will it give me a moment? I ask because I desperately want to rename my character. The best way to do that is to make a character on Gorfang with my character name and THEN transfer him so I can change it. So is that possible or will it make me change it immediately?
2) Does everyone STILL flame DoKs for trying to be melee? When I first created a DoK I had an awesome time in tier 1-3 as I could damage/heal fine enough. Tier 4 hit and that was all but thrown out the window. For one I couldn't heal well enough through melee to make much of a difference besides keeping myself going longer. There's also the fact that everyone was yelling at me to stop trying to DPS and "heal me ******!!" I'm not opposed to the healing role as I revert to it whenever my group did city dungeons and Lost Vale, but I like to spice things up every once in awhile. This brings me to ...
3) Destruction side, how is the healer situation? On Phoenix Throne we seemed low which was part of the problem with me trying to play how I thought was fun. Is Gorfang any better off or does it suffer from the same problem?
4) Is any melee NOT a tank still having an issue dying like nuts in pvp? I remember witch elves and marauders dropping like flies in melee to a PBAOE Brightwizard. Any of this better or is it still a tank/ranged game pvp wise?
thecheat, that much I get. However, last night a lv 40 buddy apprenticed my lv 6. I couldn't fly anywhere cool so we flew to the Maw and ran to the Chaos Wastes. However, I wasn't gaining experience from killing anything and I don't know why. Is it because he wasn't gaining exp?

Yeah, he still needs to be gaining XP for you to get any. Even if you were level 30 and he was 40 and you guys did Chaos Wastes you wouldnt get any XP for being in a party with him.
You guys would need to run to the other end of the pairing, like Reikland or at least Praag to get XP.
nhyt, i have been playing a dps spec'd dok for a while in like three different iterations across two servers and have never received any beef from anyone. I am always all up in the shit and feel right at home.
gorfang destro seems fine as healing power goes.
inx, get some summon stones it makes apprenticing easier and yeah, your master needs to be getting XP to share with you. also, if you kill low level shit with him you won't get XP because he's not getting it.
That's about all I ever received unless I was running with my brother who was a Chosen. He would put guard on me and we'd go off and just do our own thing in scenarios and have fun hitting up people from the sides while our main force worked from head on. It worked well enough together though sometimes even still there would be shouts/tells to me asking me to stop DPSing and heal only. That was back on Phoenix Throne.
It's not like I do bad in melee either unless we're in a total random group and orders a premade as I always end up in the higher tier of the boards (not just damage done but killing blows as well, along with doing spatter heals from a strong consume essence damage).
To be honest I'd play a witch elf if they weren't female only. Never played a female character before and don't intend to start now. Most guys seem to love it but I like playing guys I think look cool ... which does not include a marauder or anything greenskin ... though I do find greenskins adorable.
Speaking of, I wish they would bump up the size of the Black Orcs.
You can see what the proper size of a Black Orc is when you see the Racial Leader in the Inevitable City, or at the landing area in Land of the Dead. Black Orcs arent supposed to be the same size as other puny orcs, and Choppas certainly shouldnt be larger than them when raging.
I'm thinking for making a DoK for my next char (so far I've only played a Chosen and a Sorc). I take it you guys enjoy playing them? Any other "fun" destro classes?

News flash mythic, when at 0.0% chance to be crit certain classes still critting you 40% of the time pretty much make me wonder what the heck your balance department was smoking.
"chance to be crit" only affects your chance to allow others to crit you. Eg, they hit you with a random attack with no chance to crit on their items or anything, their chance to crit you with this random attack is whatever your "chance to be crit" is.
Abilities which give a chance to crit will not be affected by lowering this, as far as I know.
I think maybe tactics that lower chance to crit might cut into it, I don't know.
0.0% chance to be crit means you aren't giving anybody any free crit chances unless they have gear/abilities that buff their crit chances. It doesn't mean you are immune to all critical hits period.
Perhaps those - to crit items directly affect the abilities, items and talents enemies have that give them extra chances to crit?

Can I ask whats so special about RR 60? What pushes the DoK over?
Right now I'm RR 56 and I'm kind of curious how a DPS DoK works these days. I went ahead and resubbed and transferred from PT to Gorfang.
As DPS, should I worry about going all the way up SAC to gain empowered transfer to make consume essence heal for 150% to help me survive longer? If not then what should I worry about? And if not Consume Essence, what should be my spam move? Cleave Soul?
Just trying to find my place on the battlefield with all the new changes. I can't even figure out if they fixed Covenant of Vitality or not so it's not on a secert timer (just started back today and haven't had time to check).
I'd go to one of their forums to ask but I can't get there from here T_T

I know, my complaint is not that "ZOMG I get crit at all." My complaint is "Some damn idiot thought that certain classes getting the ability to stack +crit far beyond the ability for someone to stack -crit is balance."
Ideally a players ability to increase there damage in some manner should be directly counterable by an opponents ability to decrease their damage taken in the same manner. For every player stacking +crit in favor of other stats would be on the same playing field as a player stacking -crit. Or I could choose to focus in another area, making say the tradeoff that while I would be crit more often i would take less damage on other attacks (such as stacking toughness) or stacking strength and choosing to go for killing my opponent before they could do enough damage to me.
The problem I find is that your defensive stats do not keep pace with your offensive stats. It is much easier to cap an offensive stat, and then go even higher with +power than it is for a defensive player to cap toughness and then pay 2:1 for more toughness while trying to chase an enemies +power. The same with +crit. I can get +12 crit from renown, i can get 0 -crit from renown. The closest equivalent would be initiative, with 30 points getting me +12% crit or 60 initiative worth about 5% -crit.
Personally I think they really need to look at how magic is defended against. All gear has armor, only jewelry has resistances. Resistances softcap at 40% and can be debuffed about 25%. Seriously who thought that giving classes a +50% chance to crit in exchange for having a healer who doesnt suck in group heal range was an actual downside?
Wow, you know that would actually probably "fix" almost every balance problem in the game. Just make it so there is a direct stat counter for every other stat, or something like that, at the cost of something else.

Tested and checked with others and it's still on a "fixed" timer. Basically, even if you have Potent Covenants, this ability will not fire more than once every 2-3 seconds even if normally it would have with the mass amount of auto attacks a DoK gets. Used to be a fan of it as it used to proc back to back but after the "fix" (which was never covered in notes, just found out by the community) it's been on the backburner for Covenant of Celerity as well as Bloodlust tactic.
I'm only RR56 myself so I have some ground to make up for leaving the game for so long. Apparently there is also some nice jewelry in Tomb of the Vulture Lord ... and here I thought I was threw after getting all my Lost Vale stuff.

Grassy ass. Updating now.
