Video Game Artwork Series Idea

I can't draw worth crap, but I have an idea for what I think would be an interesting and creative series of video game-related art. Maybe this has been done before, if so I apologize. I also apologize for merely being an "idea guy".
My idea is this: a series of iconic video game characters playing their own games in wherever the artist imagines that character would be in to relax. Of course, there could be plenty of game references an in-jokes in the background for those that have played the games. Photos with other characters, items from the game on top of bookshelves, etc.

Nintendo characters could be even more interesting, since the Wii necessitates physical activity:

- Ryu and Ken playing some hardcore competitive Street Fighter IV in a darkened Japanese arcade
- Gordon Freeman, donning his characteristic HEV suit, gaming Half-Life 2 on a PC in an MIT science lab
- Solid Snake attempting to get some game time in with Metal Gear Solid 4 in the middle of the night, with the glow of the TV acting as the single source of light in the room
- Master Chief clearly appearing very focused in a Halo 3 multiplayer match, probably sporting the limited edition Halo-skinned Xbox 360 and with every possible peripheral
Nintendo characters could be even more interesting, since the Wii necessitates physical activity:
- Princess Peach standing on a Balance Board clearly upset about the results of her daily Wii Fit regime would be hilarious
- Young Link standing in front of Twilight Princess in the middle of a diagonal slash with the Wiimote
Of course, there are plenty of other possibilities.
