What's up Portlanders! PAX is less than a month away, and what better way to get ready than having a Pre-Pax Portland meetup?

Portland has so many great activites, but only one really fits the PAX mood, the monthly free play at Ground Kontrol.

Who: Anyone in and around Portland OR.

Where: Ground Kontrol in down town Portland.

Portland, OR 97209
Here is a map of the area

When: Free Play is the last Wednesday of every month. So in August, it will be Wednesday, August 26th at 5pm. It is 21+ however, cause Ground Kontrol has an open bar.

How Much?: It's only $5 for the whole night.


If the majority of people in the area are under 21, we can get something earlier going before going to Ground Kontrol of course.


So, if you wanna join in on some awesome Pre-Pax fun, post if your coming, and we'll see you there!

    We're at Ground Kontrol every last Wednesday, so of course we'll be there for this month's Free Play! ("We" being myself and my boyfriend)

    Meh, I don't have twitter either but getting together at Ground Kontrol would be awesome. I may not be able to get up to Portland but Nada probably can... I'll have to tell him about it.

    My wife and I will be there. :)

    I'm 23, but I saw you mentioned something for the under 21 crowd and there is a great coffee shop / cyber cafe around the corner called Backspace.
    They have vegetarian friendly food, usually some kind of art show, occasional live music and computers/wifi to use.

    well if I had known about a free play at GK, I'd have been there long before now.

    Wife and I will be there! nice unwind before that drive up the next day :)

    I would be happy to attend this shindig.

    GK also has rock band tuesdays which i've gone to 2 or 3 times, but I can't handle the ion drum kit they have because mine at home is over 9000 times more awesome.

    I'll bring my crew providing they all land in time and we're not making trips out to PDX. Some of the local members have work obligations but the out of towners should get a kick out of us.

    SO, quick note. Tonight at Guardian Games, at 6pm (ie right now.), they are having their monthly beer and pizza night. $10 for beer pizza and games. 21+ only

    Im going, and if anyone else wants to come, we can have a like a Pre Pre-Pax meetup.

    I want to be there but I work until 8pm. It wouldn't be until 9 that could get there and I would figure most people will be gamed out by then.

    My husband and I should be able to be there sometime. What time is everyone thinking about showing up? I see on the site that freeplay starts at 5. Should be fun!

    Hey, this is awesome! I manage Ground Kontrol and have seen the RTs on Twitter about this pre-PAX meetup. Myself and a few other GK folk attend PAX every year, so we fully support this.

    Just keep in mind the free-play party attendance has been steadily growing and we _do_ have to make sure we stay under capacity (which is about 150 persons, not including staff.) People have been lining up outside our door prior to free-play parties, so get there early if you can! Door opens at 5.

    This next week we're also celebrating our 10th anniversary, so we're going to try and make each nite extra-special. You can check our website if you're curious about the other events!

    Anyway, if anyone wants to keep in touch with me about this pre-PAX Portland Party, go ahead and either message me here or email me at artATgroundkontrolDOTcom. I'll try to do something cool for you guys!

    Before heading downtown to Ground Kontrol, my boyfriend and I were planning on eating at an amazing Japanese restaurant in Beaverton (it's on the way for us, called 'Sambi'). Anyone is welcome who wants to join us for dinner beforehand. Don't have a definite time figured out yet...
