What has happened to my Internets!!!

Ok, someone has stole my megahurtz!

I have been away at uni for 3 months, and my familly computer has been used by my parents throughout that time, and they aren't particularly adept at using a computer. I set them up with firefox a told them to run spybot every couple of weeks, and told them not to click on anything dodgy.

I am on a 1mbps AOL connection, with a wireless router.

Since I got back, my download speed has dropped to slightly above what i got when I was on 56k, both for browsing web sites and for torrents. Signal stregnth is "very good" but torrents won't go above 10kb/s and web sites are really slow, and often timing out.

I have ran an up to date spybot and removed any crap that came up, no change.

Any ideas what it could be?

    Your service provider?

I mean seriously, if it seems like the internet is the problem, perhaps it's the internet that's the problem. If you have access to another computer at all try hooking it up and see if that has shit download speeds too.

Boot from a linux live CD and see if it speeds up. If yes then reinstall windows. If not then you could also try connecting directly to the internet. If it's still crap then I guess you could complain to the ISP.
