I have a computer program called TropeTrainer that runs off of a CD.
It requires the CD to be physically in the drive for the program to run. The netbook I just purchased has no CD drive. I'm
sure that there is a way to make my own image file to mount onto a virtual drive (if I'm using terminology horribly wrong I'm sorry).
Is there a free program available that does this?
Also how do I get the TropeTrainer install file onto my netbook? Just put the entire thing on a USB drive?
EDIT: Thanks I'm all set. Just gotta get the netbook in the mail :P

First, find a program that will rip a CD or DVD to an .iso file. There are plenty of free programs that will do this, I can't remember what I used last time. Just googling "rip to .iso" or something similar should get you what you need.
Then, the program you want for the virtual drive is called Alcohol 52%. Free! Find it at http://www.alcohol-soft.com/
So the steps you'll want to take are:
1. Rip the CD to an .iso file on a computer that has a CD drive.
2. Put the .iso on a USB drive.
3. Install Alcohol 52% on the netbook.
4. Transfer the .iso file to a folder on your netbook.
5. Mount it using Alcohol.
6. Success!
I'm sure it can be explained in better detail, but you have a pretty good idea of what needs to happen it looks like already, so hope that helps.
I've been using Daemon Tools lite on my netbook for the same thing, and it also gets the job done.
If you're willing to pay for the full version of Alcohol, it will rip your discs to .ISO format for you.
