I searched the forum and found many threads on setting up media servers, but they all seemed to revolve around what program to use. I've figured out by now that I should probably use PS3mediacenter or TVersity. However, I'm trying to set up the connection itself, which is something I'm having trouble with.
My PC and PS3 are usually connected to the internet via wifi with my wireless router. However, whenever I enable Media Server Connection on the PS3, it will soon disconnect from the network. I've noticed it has found PS3mediaserver before, but it disconnects before I can manage to do anything. So I want to try connecting my PS3 directly to my PC with whatever cable I need. I don't know how to go about doing this on Vista, though.
Is it possible to have the media server work this way? I have both ethernet and crossover cables, but I don't know what to do with them! If worse comes to worse, could I just buy a cheap router and have both my PC and PS3 connect to the router with cables?
