I knew i wasnt getting anywehre in one of my classes, and elected th Credit/No Credit option withint the set deadline. I was relieved. I focused on doing well in all my other classes, and I did.
I log on to check my grades and see a big black glinting F. For hey, we just Fucked you.

I'm pretty sure I saved my copy from when I applied to have the course counted that way, but it *may* have been lost. In any case I won't know until I go back, since it's in my dorm room, and the halls close for break.

You can imagine how distressed I Feel right now. I can't afford to have this blemish, and it's keeping me from a 3.0

Those beauracratic dumbfucks fucked this up like they do everything else. Thisi sn't the first time I've been burned like this.

The question is, is there any chance I can get them to make the appropriate changes....because really, I am so fucked if they don't.

I was in your exact situation before. Basically I went to the Registrar's Office, and I was like "I'd like to talk to your supervisor" until they finally took me to someone who listened, understood, and fixed it.

Did you have your proof on you? I recall the girl telling me to keep my copy with me. Like I said, I put it in my notebook and forgot about it so there's a slight chance I may not be able to find it...but I'm sure THEY would have a copy somewhere in a filing cabinet...
But it's easier to tell someone to fuck off so that they don't creat work for you.

Proof? The way my university handles it is online. We don't have to actually go to the administrative office and request a change.

We do...I'm scared shitless right now. Seriously. I really wish I could go through my notebook but it's in a locked building on the other side of the world...

Also, I meant for this to be in H/A. Sorry about the mispost.

The thing is, you don't look credible asking them to change an F to an NC, since you have every reason to be scamming them. But they HAVE to have a copy somewhere, I mean they don't just throw stuff like that away, do they?

    bring your paper proof.
speak to someone until they fix it.

DON'T STOP ASKING TILL YOU GET WHAT YOU WANT.

This is only way the university will listen.

It's funny though, because most people will just lay there and take it in the ass.

If I can take my paper proof in I'm fine. I'm just anticipating what could happen if I can't find it.
I suspect that they don't keep their records, seeing as there are a metric shit ton of them, or there would be if they kept everyone's records.

If you had to pay for the course, then there's a record SOMEWHERE.

I would see if they can dig it up. It's their responsibility as much as yours to keep things on file.

So, try and find yours, and make sure that they have theirs. But start calling the registrars office the day it opens, within the first hour. Don't stop calling them until you've got them committed to doing SOMETHING about this issue.

Just spoke to them. They said it's modified "by hand" approx. 2 weeks after the letter grade is assigned.

Somehow something still feels awry, seeing as 2 weeks seems like something of a cementing period if something has gone wrong, but I guess I don't have anything to worry about for now.

I would say you're probably in the clear, but I'd maintain a certain amount of contact with them to keep an eye on it. My sister was in exactly the same situation a few years ago, and ended up with a lot of "we'll take care of it" responses. She eventually had to bitch out the president of the university to get her grade changed. So long as you have it written in stone that yes, they acknowledge this is not the correct grade, you should be fine.

When they do fix it, get a copy of the updated transcript. That way if you'll have proof in case they "forget" to put it in your final transcript when you graduate.

If you have the proof, you'll be fine... it'll jusut be a big waste of your time to get this whole thing fixed. Don't be surprised if it doesn't get fixed in a day. They'll have "file papers" and get signatures and shit in order to change. Universities like you to think changing grades is a HUGE process, when in reality it's not.

Also, if the University refuses to change it, you can complain all you like but if they just say "NO" repeatedly... there's not much you can do outside of legal stuff. Don't go crazy and trying to get shit in the newspapers unless you plan on transferring right after cause they'll definitely fuck you if you stay after stirring up shit.

Call them back, and ask for that in writing. Also ask for a copy of the form that was supposed to stop all this in the first place. These are not unusual requests, and there shouldn't be any huge struggle in getting it out of them. Just be nice, be concerned and they'll do the work for you.

Registrar offices go through A LOT of shit each year, and Christmas is particularly messy time, both work wise for them, but in terms of dealing with the public too. Students are stressed as hell. This is why they get progressively more crabby and unhelpfull. This is why you have to be extra nice. Try to boss them around or get too aggressive, and your request just goes to the bottom of the pile, because there were 20 people before you who were much nicer and should be served first anyway.

Be insistent, keep on top of them, be firm, but always always be polite. This is your future you're dealing with. You gotta bend over backwards a bit to stand out from the screaming masses.

I work on a college campus, the way mine works is the offices keep a copy of EVERYTHING. In paper form or scanned to a database. When you go to the registrar's office don't deal with the people that are in front, ask to speak to the supervisor, try to find out the person's name ahead of time. Be polite! They're going to want to help you more if you stay calm and collected. They really aren't trying to screw you over so if you go in and honestly have proof they will try to help you. People make mistakes and that's why they keep ALL thier records in case they screw up.
