Component Switch/Selector?

I bought a Component switch through Monoprice.com (The $20.00 dollar model was the only one I could find on their site) to go between my Xbox and PS3. They are both hooked up to a Dell 24'' monitor via this switch/selector and work fine for the most part.

However when the screen gets bright (Flashbang in Metal Gear solid, or Ultra Finish in SF4) the video goes off until the video data darkens again.

As you can tell this is annoying as hell and really messes up some great moments. Thinking I got a bad one I went online for reviews. Most of them were positive, but several people mentioned the video going out during bright moments. I went out to Best Buy and bought the Dynex version (Which is pretty much the exact same thing for twice the price) to test and see if I just got a bad one. Nope. Happens with both of them - Screen gets bright and it goes off.

Where can I find a good component switch online? I'm returning the Dynex one tomorrow.

I'm looking at the $50-70 price range in the hopes that it won't pull this crap.

Is there another good site like Monoprice.com that may have some to look at?

yeah, you basically need a better switch... look for one that's rated for the highest resolution, as that tends to mean better parts

amazon has tons of them btw

I bought a Phillips brand component switch from Wal-Mart of all places for like $20. It worked great for my xbox 360, but I use HDMI for everything now.

ya I don't like buying video switches from monoprice.
I bought a $40 HDMI switch, it didn't work. Sent it back, 2nd one didn't work.
I emailed them they said it was a compatibility issue with my TV.
Whatever. I bought a $20 off of ebay with free shipping, and it worked like a charm, plus it had auto switching when it detects a device being turned on.

I picked up a few of the HDMI autoselectors off of monoprice, and they both worked like a charm.
