Amtrak trip planner

Maybe I'm dumb because I've never done this, but I'm trying to book a round trip train ride from Syracuse to NYC about 4 days in between (sept 18-21) and it's giving me an error saying there's no applicable itinerary.

I go to look at the route schedules and it says one of the routes I could use (the maple leaf) is daily, so why doesn't it exist according to the trip planner?

Am I out of luck or is there a bug somewhere?

Hm, I didn't have a problem getting it to come up. Do you have your departure time set to something later than when the train leaves on the 18th?

This is what I put in on the first screen -

And this is the result it gave me -

Iiiiit's official I'm dumb. I don't know what I did differently, except change the station names to what you put but it works now.

    Thanks so much!

Is there a trip planner that's different from the fare finder on the front page? I just did a quick test like the above poster and got the same results. Make sure you've got the right stations and dates and give it another shot. Best bet is to leave the times as "anytime" and work from there- if you're giving it a narrow timetable that may be what's causing your problem.

After fiddling with it, apparently there's a "Syracuse - New York State Fair" station option, along with just a "Syracuse". The fair option is first on the list, so I'm guessing it defaults to that. As it runs from mid-August to Labor Day, accidentally selecting it for dates after Labor Day would come up with no itinerary available.
