Gandalf PMed me his first move, so I'll post the encounter.
Travelling southwest from Baghdad, Scheherezade comes to the gates of Alexandria, where she meets a Lovesick Efreet.
Your possible reactions are on Matrix M. Just let me know your reaction and roll a 1D6. 1-2 = a minus, 3-4 = no adjustment, 5-6 = a plus.
Orangesoda:
Will do both when I get back in a bit later this evening, going to a friend's for a quick Battlelore/Formula D throwdown. Will bring the Arabian book and cards with me in case there are responses here.
The Lovesick Efreet looks at you reflectively. "Due to my wealth and powers, I find myself constantly approached by false friends and lovers. Though I admit I am impressed with your charms, I must assume you to be the same until you prove otherwise. (seduction)
You give the Efreet lessons in the amorous arts, which he finds most instructive and useful. [D1/Respected]
You gain one destiny point, and now have Respected:
"You have gained the respect of the mighty, and your reputation is enhanced.
-Effect-
In any encounter in which a die roll is involved, you may roll a second time for an Award paragraph after it is read to you if you don't like the first result.
The second roll stands.
You set out from Baghdad and arrive at Yalta. As you pass into the town, you hear rumors of a map to a minor treasure.
Reaction matrix is E, just let me know your choice.
If you succeed at the minor treasure encounter, you can keep the Tipoli card. If you go to Tipoli, you can play the card and roll 1d6 to receive a reward or encounter.
You travel to Yalta. In a dark corner of the small town, you discover a temple of evil Magian fire-worshippers. In the center of the temple stands an idol of great value.
"You discover a temple of evil Magian Fire-worshippers. Inside is a fabulous idol, which you vow to obtain. You go to a former magian, who, for a price, tells you their secrets.
Your attempt to pass as a Magian fails, and you are attacked. Only the intervention of your friend saves your life. You do not get the treasure you sought. [D1/Envious]"
(no skill)
Strange. Stealth and Stealing are not the skill used to get it. Anyway:
"Envious You have seen that which has driven you mad with envy. you cannot rest until you have obtained your desire.
- Effect -
You cannot win while Envious.
In any encounter in which Rob is a possible reaction, you must choose it.
- To Lose -
You may pay 3 Destiny points to exchange this status for the On Pilgrimage status.
Alternately, if you receive 2 Wealth levels of a Treasure in any one encounter, you lose this status."
In any event, I believe you can still keep or discard the Tipoli city card, which will let you get various rewards if you get to Tipoli.

Did he succeed ?
Well, that's the thing. I should have been more explicit, but I think I was wrong in my phrasing there. When I played before we assumed you had to succeed to the keep the card.
The rule book simply says:
"If you draw a City Encounter, you immediately go to the paragraph printed on the bottom of the card to have an encounter. The City Encounter card also names a city and a list of results numbered from 1 to 6. You may choose to keep the City Encounter card to play later, or you may choose to discard."
Universal head version:
"If you draw a City Encounter card, immediately go to
the paragraph printed on the bottom of the card to
have an encounter. You may choose to keep the card to
play later, or you may discard it."
It never says anything about succeeding at the encounter anywhere I've read so far. I think I was just assuming incorrectly in the previous two games.
edit: Forgot to mention, his encounter was simply the Tripoli card, and table 15, which lead to small treasure. I was trying to think of a quick way to tie "go to tripoi" with "minor treasure" without knowing which reaction he'd pick. When I went back and re-read, realized the phrasing I threw in was based on that incorrect assumption.
Any chance we could get the player skills expanded to include statuses, artifacts, destiny/story points etc. It's a good deal of extra work, but it'd keep things organized and in one place.
As you travel down the sandy coast to Alexandria, you pass a few travellers who point out the nearby Ape Island. You hear conflicting rumors about the island's Garrulous Prince.
Your choices for Garrulous Prince are on matrix A.
The pvp rules seem to indicate that you have a normal encounter first, then you can use an ability on the other player in the same space.
I've heard there's a genie out there who wants to turn you into a girl, marry you to your first mate and then turn you back into a guy and call you gay.
I just wonder which one of you will end with several spouses first.
edit: My other question is who will end up with a magical weapon and then spend the rest of the game hunting the other players down to the ends of the earth.

Die Roll + Terrain + 1/2 depending on your Destiny.
1 - 2 is a minus, 5 - 6 is a plus.
Encounter Role (1d6=4)
I think that should be needed since I am not a master in any skill, so I don't get to chose my destiny.
The Lovesick Efreet looks at you reflectively. "Due to my wealth and powers, I find myself constantly approached by false friends and lovers. Though I admit I am impressed with your charms, I must assume you to be the same until you prove otherwise. (seduction)

There is no special way to lose this status."
:winky:
City card - Tipoli.

Just to post it in the thread for clarity
You can't hide from the truth! You must grasp it with both hands and follow your destiny, child. Or minor treasure, you know, whatever.
You travel to Yalta. In a dark corner of the small town, you discover a temple of evil Magian fire-worshippers. In the center of the temple stands an idol of great value.
You can steal the idol or alert the Sultan.
Okay, pasting:
Sinbad:
"You discover a temple of evil Magian Fire-worshippers. Inside is a fabulous idol, which you vow to obtain. You go to a former magian, who, for a price, tells you their secrets.

Is there a hand limit?
At least I am not in prison
I don't see anything about hand limits in the rule book.

Gandalf, you will receive a new quest, yes.
1d6=1, so -1 for the Book of Tales.
edit : and Sheherazade is a loser. Let's all point at her and laugh.
I will plunder that genies boooooty if you know what rrrr mean
This girl.
Have fun trying to collect child support checks.
