The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
I have about 17 longboxes. It doesn't compare to Whippy's 3-room wall-to-wall clusterfuxx0r of comics, but it's still a lot.
And it needs to go.
I'm going through the boxes, issue-by-issue to remove stuff. For example, I'm keeping most of my JLA run; Morrison is great and Giffen rocks, but anything by Joe Kelly and half the stuff by Mark Waid is going in the "Bye bye" pile. As are the "Obsidian / Nuklon / The Yazz" years of Justice League America.
I plan on paring it down to, at most, 10 longboxes.
It's going to be a bitch and a half to put them on eBay, grading notwithstanding.
There's a lot of $ in there, but I'm not above donating a box or two to some kids.
A few years ago I looked into donating a bunch of comics to the local children's hospital, but ended up giving them to my fiancee's school.
As long as you remove anything that might be considered inappropriate for children the people at the hospital will be fucking stoked to get them.
I think I'm the most deserving charity case because I have an acknowledged ignorance of the DC universe and have not read nearly enough comics. My current collection of comics is numbered at 250 total, including TPBs, manga, and Scott Adams books. Also, I like Reggie Hudlin's Black Panther run, which everyone else seems to hate. Oh, and I liked 90s comics, particularly X-Force.
So please, help a deserving nerd overcome this debilitating deficiency. Give. Give 'til it hurts.

Less than 40, including TPB's (and Scott Adams books, for a strange coincidence). And most of those are old issues of "Sonic the Hedgehog" from when I was younger (a wasted youth).
Clearly, I am the most needy of all.
Seriously, though, if you want to donate to kids, a school would probably be the best. Just make sure they're not issues that it would be a tragedy if they were destroyed, because comics are not going to last long in a school environment.
Ahem - you guys are just wasting your time. The comics are for Hensler.
Oh, wait. Squashua doesn't give comics to posters who speak of themselves in the third person.
Squashua not included.
I was uh... talking about a guy I know named Hensler, who I'm going to give them to. I hate people that talk in the 3rd person. Hell, I hate people period.
Have you gotten rid of these comics yet? In all seriousness, I'd like to suggest donating them to troops serving in Iraq. Comics/new reading material are hard to come by over there, and it would really make a difference.
Hensler on

Can I deduct you from my taxes?
He's actually very sick.
I, meanwhile, count as 12,000 different impoverished single mothers.
And our babies are bored!
You can send me your books

Yeah, I considered that, but aren't old comic books full of disease to give kids with poor immune systems infections?

No AIDS for them. Soldiers are also an option I considered.
