Adobe Acrobat Question.

So this is probably a super obvious thing, but I'm just not getting it.

So you know how when you open a PDF file using reader you can select the text and stuff? Okay, well I'm working on creating a new PDF with acrobat and the only way I can get the text selectable is with the touchup text and holding ctrl.
I'm sure the people that made the documents and manuals didn't use this method(as it's extremely cumbersome) so I'm sure there has to be an easier way. All the other tools make the text in box, which wasn't really what I was going for.
Any ideas?

So, are you working from an existing document or a brand new PDF?

I've tried both. Were there different ways for both?

From what I remember, yeah. If the doc you're working on was converted from a Word file, the editing options are a lot more limited than if the doc was created as a PDF.

Maybe it'd be better with an example:

The top is how it works with the typewriter tool and the bottom with the touchup tool. I would just use the touch up tool(which is how I want it to work) but it's really really slow, so I figure there has got to be a way to do it easier.
