Add funds to paypal account?

About 6 years ago, I had a paypal account. Shortsightedly, the email address I used in those days was provided by the host of the website I owned. Eventually, I ended up closing the Paypal account, because I didn't plan on using it ever again, and I didn't realize how ubiquitous it would end up being. Fastforward to 4 years ago - I create a new Paypal account to buy/sell stuff on eBay. I sell a bunch of items and end up with a couple hundred in the account. I figure I'd rather have it in my checking account, so I go to add my bank info.

I can't. You can only have one paypal account per bank account. And I can't remove the bank account from the old Paypal, because even if it were open, the email address doesn't exist and the phone number I used to have isn't mine anymore.

I've lived with it for a while now, because the only time there's ever money in the Paypal account is when I sell stuff on eBay, and then I just "spend it out" by buying stuff from online stores that take Paypal. It sucks, but what can I do? I can't just call Paypal and say "Yeah, my bank account is tied to an old, closed account. No, I don't have the login info. No, I can't access the email or phone number. Account name? Shit, what was I using back then?..."

Anyway, long story short: I'd like to send a guy some money for a custom doohickey, but he's in the UK and wants payment by Paypal. I can't add funds from my debit card.

I'm hoping someone has a better idea than the two options I've entertained thus far:
A) Find an item of approximate value and sell it on eBay and require payment by Paypal.
B) Open a new bank account with another bank and link it to the current active Paypal account.
C) Do without custom doohickey.

New bank account is probably your quickest method. Or try calling your bank and ask if they can assign a new account number to your account (they might do this for security reasons if you think your account is in jeopardy, though I don't know for sure)

I'm sure if you have all the bank account information that there is a possibility that pay-pal would be able to verify your ownership of the account.

Just keep in mind this'll likely break your checks and any auto-account payments.

Have you tried contacting PayPal? Since you have the banking information they may be able to help.

Have you tried contacting paypal to see if they could completely remove the old account? I would imagine if you can confirm enough of the account info they should be able to do that. If you can't, it's probably easier to just open another account.
