Wax on a Car Seat

So, my girlfriend left a candle (of the glass jar variety) in her car overnight, and it kind of melted and seeped out. We're wondering if it's in any way possible to remove the wax.

I've heard of two ways,

1) Place some cloth or paper over the wax, run an iron over it, and let it cool.

2) Place an icepack over the spot, wait for it to become brittle, and just pick off.

Any ideas?

I've used the iron method with carpet, but I have no idea if it works on a car seat.

Buy wax remover, it works like a charm.

I would pick the excess off before you go about melting and absorbing.
