Ventrilo - Error beeps when using the microphone hotkey?

I'm having a bit of trouble using ventrilo. Whenever I hold down the microphone hotkey, I hear a continuous stream of generic windows error beeps. My voice gets broadcast, but ventrilo also broadcasts the beeps.

Any idea why this is happening? I was messing with the volume controls a little while back in order to record sound when making a video on my computer, so that could have something to do with it.

Ahh crap, there is an option to turn that sound off and I can't remember where it is.

Check the settings in Vent. (Play key beeps or something to that nature)

Also check the windows generic settings.

This occurs because you've got a "highlight" on a Ventrilo button (usually settings) so when you try to hit your vent button, the computer detects you trying to hit a function key for the GUI instead of your bound mic button.

Click off of whatever button you have highlighted and it'll work again.
